I know it's an old cricketing cliche, but it's uncanny how bowlers often totally forget basics when bowling on a green fruity deck.

Not a great start from SL, but this looks like a decent deck for batting. Ball is coming on nicely.

We'll see if the ball swings more after the lacquer comes off.

Mathews may be better off bowling himself. His 125 medium trundlers could actually be more likely that this current tripe.

It amazes me that someone can get to international level without being able to hit a leg side half volley. Come on Hamish, it's really, really easy.

Pradeep bowling a much better line and length than Lakmal - although that isnt very hard considering the tripe the latter has sent down so far...looks pretty overcast so hoping it will start to swing a bit once the laquer goes...

From seeing the performance of the NZ quicks no doubt in my mind the 3rd seemer shouldve been Matt Henry and Adam Milne otherwise. In order for NZ bowling attack to be world class they need a 3rd world class bowler. Wagner (pronounced Vagner like the famous composer Richard Wagner) just dosen't have "it" and the bottom line is stats dont lie. NZ are extremely lucky to have 2 decent allrounders in Corey Anderson Cooper and Jimmy Kimmel Neesham and they provide a great balance for the bowlers.

By the way for the wrold cup I want McCullum to open with Luke Ronchi

Pitch seems to be playing according to type atm - looks very green and juicy but haven't really seen any movement yet.
