Haha Kip knows more than me these days, clearly. He was doing a landscaping degree and is also a very good hockey player, and lost passion for the game I think. Complex bloke Morgs, was very, very talented at 17-18 - was the best death bowler the Aces had just before the HRV/Champs League came in then got overcoached/wasn't able to be a free thinker about his own game, and became very mechanical and much less effective. Real shame, was slippery quick, swung it and hit a big ball, scored 80-odd on FC debut with his old uncluttered mind. '
My experiences of Auckland bowlers changed greatly from more recent times to 10 years ago. Now, you get guys almost exclusvely >125km who swing it out of the hand. Guys like Matt Quinn, Deano Bartlett etc stick out like dogs balls as guys who hit the deck with any great venom. Apparently Brett Randall is of a similar ilk. Previous to that, you'd get guys who hit the deck a lot better, and probably did rely on seam rather than long swinging HVs that expose poor club techniques. And obviously the average age is significantly lower.
