Yeah, I must admit him being a ****ing Taff and playing for United all his career does make me view him with a bias.....
I think the whole 'winningest player' is overplayed. I think United have had a tonne of great players; especially during my watching life-time and Giggs seems to get more praise now for his efforts back then than he actually ever received in reality at the time. Giggs was Overmars level; he was never Laudrup or even Nedved level. I guess it also depends how much weight you want to put on longevity and, personally, beyond a certain point I stop caring. For me Ronaldo is United's greatest player at least in the premier league era - even if it is only about a quarter of Giggs' career.

I think Lampard is really underrated. He was a lot less exciting to watch, but Gerrard played the same position and his output didn't even come especially close. He had another gear to step up in big games that Lampard didn't have, but was less consistent. There's definitely a debate there for those who can be arsed.
Statistically (overall) they're fairly close despite one having to carry a bunch of muppets most of the time whereas the other played in what was comparatively a galactico team in English football. And Gerrard didn't really play the same position. Lampard had a career of playing in his preferred position; Gerrard spent his peak moving around the place from DM to CM to RM to AM/SS.

But I do agree that Lampard has become a bit underrated. Whatever you want to say about his all-round game, his numbers in terms of affecting goals and assists is not normal.

Ikki just shut up. Everything you've written about Giggs is completely wrong, cpr is bang on the money about early 90s Giggs.

There's a reason he was constantly linked with all the top Serie A clubs for ludicrous money.
Torres, Denilson and Carroll must make your all-time great team. Meanwhile...in reality...

I remember we had this discussion before and it got to you stuttering trying to prove your point.

Geniune question because I don't watch that much football and used to at a certain point without really understanding the finer nuances - Is Lampard '04-08 definitely better than Gerrard in that period at least? From what I saw at that time, it felt like he was an absolute monster and was runner up for the Ballon D'or etc., apart from Ronaldo becoming god in that phase, it certainly felt like he was much better than Gerrard in that period and for the amateur football watcher the best player in the league.
03-09 are Gerrard's best years - last season was up there too - and I don't think I've ever seen a more complete player...ever. Even non-Liverpool fans have to pay him his props; he played a myriad of positions and was at a POTY level consistently and he'll forever be remembered for the 04-05 Champions League season.

Question for those who watch more of the Premiership than I do, does Ashley Young ever actually em deliver a cross on target? Yes he's fast and yes he can beat a man, but he never actually seems to cross the ball accurately at all. Wastes so many opportunities.

Arsenal v West Ham...mayhem, both teams throwing everything and the kitchen sink. Arsenal hang on to a very valuable 3 points.

Managers whinging about two games in three days, blabla
..... and to make it worse they're over Christmas when they all want to be with their families

Employment Tribunal beckons imo - must be an Equality Act claim in it

Bloke's rubbish.
It's quite annoying as a fan because you see him beat a bloke, burns then off, you look over and see three blokes in the box; he takes it to the by line then invariably whips his cross into the chest of the defender standing in front of him.

I mean, you have to be a **** to keep doing that to people, don't you?

Young has probably been our best player across the last few games tbf. I did think he was very frustrating today, but even then I seemed to be in a minority on that one.

I agree TBH, he tracks back well, and he may be frudtrating with the final ball, but he gives United that sense of pace and urgency they missed last season, he also had it in spades when you won the championship two years ago, the guys not great, but when used by a clever progressive manager can be very effective.

In other news still wondering to give Ikki a blast over a bloke I don't even like......
