****s me when Grecian is right.

If Gerrard had gone to Chelsea in 04 or 05 like he was close to doing both years the Lampard thing wouldn't even be considered, and he'd have likely left Chelsea while Gerrard won a medal or three.

I mean Keane and Scholes there are cases for even if I don't agree but to rank Lampard above Gerrard is laughable, there isn't a top manager in the game over their careers who would have picked Lampard over Gerrard.

Anyway. Whites were **** today and thanks to good old English snow it took me four hours to drive the 100 miles home.
I think Lampard is really underrated. He was a lot less exciting to watch, but Gerrard played the same position and his output didn't even come especially close. He had another gear to step up in big games that Lampard didn't have, but was less consistent. There's definitely a debate there for those who can be arsed.

Gerrard is/was worth more to Liverpool than he would have been to anyone else. Such is the way they play/played.

I would probably rather have current Lampard over current Gerrard though.

Yeah, I guess they accounted for Muller winning loads of stuff. It's not even close to being the worst decision in the list though. Pogba over Modric, my god.
Just coming back on this. He won five trophies in 2013, and I thought his performances were probably better. He was a monster in that Champions League run in in 13, whereas in 2014 he's only scored two non penalty CL goals (both against English clubs). I think he's just became more fashionable and done better in matches that are being observed rather than being a better player or having a better year.

WAG though.

Geniune question because I don't watch that much football and used to at a certain point without really understanding the finer nuances - Is Lampard '04-08 definitely better than Gerrard in that period at least? From what I saw at that time, it felt like he was an absolute monster and was runner up for the Ballon D'or etc., apart from Ronaldo becoming god in that phase, it certainly felt like he was much better than Gerrard in that period and for the amateur football watcher the best player in the league.

Just looked at the fixture list. West Ham and Southampton next, two six pointers. Forget the first half of the season, it starts now.

That was probably Gerrard's peak and he was way way better than Lampard. IMO.

I'm struggling to stay interested in this season. If you don't follow a team, you need to be entertained. Last season City, Liverpool and Man Utd were all good value, for different reasons. There's none of that now.

Ok, some ground rules though:

1.) No Man United or Liverpool. Can't stand them/their fans.
2.) No Arsenal. Nothing really against them except everyone I know who pretends to watch English football "supports" them. And Jack Wilshere.
3.) No Chelsea. John Terry.
4.) No teams with British managers.

Crap. Pleased for Palace fans, but it means Warnock will be back on TALKsport.
Yup, this particular Eagle is absolutely delighted. Perhaps his comments about how lucky we were under Pulis were the final straw, but he's so obviously out of his depth that it was just getting painful. No idea who we'll get to replace him, and I almost don't care. Maybe Pulis and our chairman can kiss and make up? Or get Freedman in as a long term bet, even if we do go down this year.

Heh, I read somewhere that Arsenal are the biggest team in Africa. Might be some truth to that.
