***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

They probably could swap places with dhawan and rahul. The only good innings I've seen from dhawan is basically him in the last test playing in the middle order.

I'm thankful we didn't replace Dhawan with this ****er. Imagine India coming out to bat to start the innings and Rahul coming out with his prick swinging trying to switch hit Mitchell Johnson and getting his off stump uprooted.

Binny wasn't given a fair run IMO.

We also have Nayar and Irfan kicking about.
Binny is not good enough with Bat or ball.

Irfan seems perenially injured and again more a bowler who can bat.

Nayar has become a good batsman but largely a lesser bowler than he used to be. Not sure how he would do at International level given his Odd technique but he's the best bet i guess.

Tbh, dropping Rohit I don't think was a horrible decision...he played some awful shots. However, I wouldnt have dropped him, certainly. Was saying repeatedly, he needs one full series to give him the chance to fail completely.

Haven't seen much of him tbh, but he isn't like this opening from what i've seen before.

Nah Binny's bowling just isn't worth calling him an all rounder imo
He's a good enough batsman for 6 tho. And his bowling is useful enough as a 5th bowler. He doesn't fit into a 5-bowler lineup but works if you want 4 bowlers 5 batsmen + MSD + allrounder.

How exactly? As far as I'm concerned a 30/40 odd from all rounder is more than enough (no number 6 bat since Ganguly has made the spot their own), this Indian team batting wise (if you exclude the last 2 england test) is absolutely fine. India's problem isn't their batting, it's their bowling and they need all the support bowling wise they can get.
Because the situation demand a proper innings from someone who could bat properly and long. Not someone who's going to go in, have a slog and come off occasionally. How the specialist batsman performed is neither here nor there to the point about what balance you want and what you want your six to do.

I don't really believe that there's no one capable of doing a good job at six btw. There's too much talent in that four and five.

Rahane played an innings on debut identical to what Rahul just did, so let's not be too quick to pass judgement on him.

Can we pretend that no.6 position has retired permanently with the exit of VVS? And assume whoever comes in after fall of 4th wicket is, well, not really a batsman.

Binny isn't one that can bowl u 20 overs in a test match though, 10 or so overs at most. Binny is a batsmen who can bowl, Jadeja or Axar Patel (or someone else if we have in domestic cricket) can actually hold up one end bowling wise.

My MAIN concern is Indian bowlers tiring out and getting progressively worse as the innings goes on (Smith said as much in the press conference). Batting is not the main concern for me, a specialist bat might get a few more runs but that can easily be offset by the potentially better bowling performance. And my opinion is based on having watched India in the last 1 year and the opportunities we have missed out on because our bowlers ran out of gas.

What ****s me most was that those shots were not only **** shots considering the circumstances but also had the most godawful placement/execution. It isn't fixed but that's what a fixed innings where you don't give a **** about being suspected would look like.

Truly ghastly. Zero sincerity. Zero application. Zero ability.
