Eh, Ponting scored about five thousand runs off people thinking they could get him LBW though.
I remember his shuffle was more pronounced when he wasn't seeing them so well trying to prempt the bowling. It was just a phase and he came out of it of course

Yeah it's a bit like Clarke with the short ball these days. There's something there that you could target, but if you get it wrong or he gets through it, you're going to be chasing leather all day (and then some), and you'd probably just be better off trying to nick him off or bowl him (in Clarke's case)

True. You might get him lbw but at what cost?

Come to think of it Ponting's problems arose because his weight was falling away to off as he shuffled. That's not something I have noticed in Smith yet as he is usually well balanced

Yep. Smith's back and across works really well - in fact the only time I remember him getting out LBW in recent times was a Steyn reversing hellswinger first nut which frankly would have got anyone out
