Hey I've been meaning to ask for a while, but why did Saha play in the First Test and not Naman Ojha? Ojha blitzed in on the A tour just 5 months ago. Seems weird.

Congrats to Joe Burns too, his time has come quicker than I expected, but good luck to him.
ojha's a **** keeper

I think you're right but I believe it's due to his injury history. He's had to re-construct his technique with bat and ball so many times, he's probably completely lost the ability to trust any instincts he must have had. This is why I think it takes him so long to make adjustments when technical issues are identified - he has to go through a huge, slow period of trial, error and analysis to convince himself he's on the right track. Has never struck me as the bloke who'd just get a hint of what to do and then go with it, he's had so many setbacks he probably can't any more.
as much as I have gone off the boil with regard to Watto for some time now I think you have made a very good point and quite articulately so I might add - in short, there HAS to be more to it than meets the eye because his talent cannot be denied. I guess I'm just frustrated as many Aussie fans are cos he has promised so much!

Yeah. His FC average was 50+ at one point and when he hit that big double ton in a Shield final a few years back, he was set because hitting a big score in a Shield final is usually indicative of a bloke who's going far.

Nice time for Burns to come in, powderpuff attack to settle into test cricket with and he is in good form. Always exciting watching any new player you haven't seen before, hope he does well.

IIRC that was around the 2006/07 Ashes where he got ruled out of Brisbane very very late on so Clarke got his place back in the side and never looked back?

Yeah, the final was from the season before (05/06) but in the lead-up to Brisbane, Clarke and Watson were the favourites for number 6 before Watson did the side a favour and tore his hammie in Adelaide and missed the rest of the season.

It's an interesting what if because IIRC the Champions Trophy in India where Watson started showing some promise as an opener in ODI cricket came just before that Ashes.

What if Watson got the opportunity to settle into that series, bat 6 and generally come in in situations where he can partake in a bit of downhill skiing, as well as send down a few overs?

3 is where we have an issue in the lineup. Burns currently opens and 3 should be fine. Obviously it's a step up to test level but It's India at Melbourne and Sydney. It's not an away tour to SA.

If Smith wants 3 and everyone shuffles then bat Burns at 6 but that sets him up to be dropped once Marsh or Clarke return. He would have to gun it over Smarsh and Watson to stay in the team when everyone's fit. At 3 he has a chance to cement a spot if he can at least put up a Cowan or Smarsh like 30 average. I saw Hughes playing a role in the top order but now we have to invest some time in some younger guys IMO.

India could revisit DRS stance | Cricket News | Australia v India | ESPN Cricinfo

What the **** is Dhoni talking about? Does he not understand how umpire's call works?
It makes no sense because he is saying the 50-50 calls are going against them anyway. And DRS won't improve that. Fine. So you're not gaining or losing anything there. I think that's full of **** but even if you assume that, it still doesn't account for all of the howlers that would have been overturned that go against you. So even by Dhoni's own argument, there would still be a net benefit from DRS.
