Was surprised that Simon Jones didn't get a mention by any of the England fans even if he has only one leg. Came back pretty decently last match of last season and if fit he rates above Harmy by miles for me.

He's barely played any First Class cricket in 5 years, we'd be as well having Trueman and Larwood in our pecking order if Simon Jones makes it.

No Cribbage, as everyone on CW knows my selections would be based entirely on stats in the appropriate form of the game and therefore he wouldn't have a prayer
You'd only pick players you've played against, bowled to, faced or seen in the nets, wouldn't you?

Two years ago when he last had a good run in First Class he averaged sub 20 and he looked decent last match FC. I know its as left field as you can go but I'd back Jones over Harmison and Hoggard still.

Norwood's on Fire
I think the ship has sailed on Jones, there wouldn't be any point bringing him back into a settled side like ours.

The only way I could ever see him playing for England again is if we were decimated by injuries and he happened to be fit and in form and could be brought in for an odd game. EVen then, complete long shot.

I wouldn't have any of them in the pecking order personally.

I'd go:

Anderson
Broad
Tremlett
Bresnan
Finn
Shazad
Onions

Which is insane depth really. Beyond that, I don't watch enough County Cricket to seriously suggest an 8,9,10. Onions is only at 7 because having been out for a year injured, I'd want him to get a full season for Durham under his belt before he was considered - unless all of a sudden our quicks were decimated by injury problems and Onions had had an excellent comeback up until that point.

Actually, in spite of what I said about Harmison, I'd probably put him at 8 on the list. But that's only because he's still an excellent County level bowler and I haven't seen enough of anyone like Woakes to seriously put him infront of Harmison.

Bump.

How I'd pick it, not how the selectors would.

1. Johnson
2. Harris
3. Pattinson
4. Hazlewood
5. Bird
6. Bollinger
7. Hilfenhaus
8. Siddle
9. Behrendorff
10. Sayers

Johnson is #1 ahead of Harris due to general X-factor and the fact that he doesn't break down so easily. Pattinson I still rate highly, and the fact that he was an attack leader before his two long-term injuries means I still have him third, but I reckon Hazlewood could be anything in the future. Bird also impressed me in limited appearences.

Bollinger apparently has his pace back, and he was pretty damn good when playing for Australia. Hilfenhaus is gun when his arm is working but pretty meh at best if it's not. Not sure how he's bowling at Shield level but he is taking regular poles. Siddle is a dud these days IMO, but he won't let you down and is a lot more fitter than a lot of the pecking order. Behrendorff looks really good to me and has performed excellently at Shield level. Sayers I'm not sure about but he generally takes poles regardless of who he plays for and he'll appeal in the right conditions.

I didn't include Cummins due to the fact that he hasn't played Shield cricket in 4 seasons. If he wasn't in cotton wool he'd be at least 6th. Starc is a crap red-ball bowler IMO.

Notable names who didn't make my list but might make lists for other countries - Hopes, Cutting, Hastings, Copeland, Abbott, Sandhu, Rainbird, Putland, Butterworth, Faulkner, Mennie, Paris, Hogan, Feldman and Fekete. (yes I'm aware that's pretty much all of the Shield quicks. But given their performances and the depth of other countries they would come under consideration IMO).

Haha come on, I know Starc isn't very popular on CW but listing all of those guys but not him is a bit much.

I'd probably say...

Eranga
Lakmal
Prasad
Pradeep
Welegedara
Kula
Gamage

Then a bunch of domestic quicks and ex-internationals, Maharoof, Dilhara Fernando and Isuru Udana included

I didn't mention Starc with those guys as I already mentioned him. Obviously he's better than most of those guys.

Why would you pick a dud ahead of someone who looks really good? No comprendo
