**Official** Pakistan v New Zealand in the UAE 2014

Not Terrible
Kane with 8 50+ scores in 12 ODIs this year. Statistically speaking only Crowe's 1992 is as impressive.

Taylor not all that far off with his 3 hundreds for the year, equaling Astle for the most by a Kiwi in a calender year. Impressive considering how entirely out of form he has been.

Edit: Forget NZ, it's one of the better years in the history of the game. Awesomely AB de Villiers is showing Kane how it's done even this year with the same average, more runs and a SR of 115. What a beast.

Bit a banter in the box between Styris & Basit. Probably a welcome relief for them to be beside somebody other than Rameez & Morrison.

Kane's right up there, most of those above him bat lower hence more not outs.

Yeah AB is a machine in ODIs.

Here's an interesting one. Same query, but all countries & by SR.

Styris has impressed me as a commentator. Obviously it's not that hard to look good when compared against Ramiz and Danny 'double-d' Morrison but he analyses the game quite well. A lot like how he used to play I suppose. Best Kiwi commentator around? I find Ian Smith, Simon Doull, Jeremy Coney and Mark Richardson to be anywhere between meh to ok at best.

I quite like 'Pig' Styris. Agree on Smith, Doull & Richardson all being meh, but listening to Jeremy Coney on the wireless during a test match is a true cricketing treat.

NZ desperately need both McCullum and Anderson to be fit throughout the WC. If this is the middle order they are going to play in a crucial WC game, it would be a big setback.

I don't mind Doull Or Smith but yeah behind Coney I would take Styris.

Yeah the 5th bowlers available today were either Devcich, Styris or Bond. Phlegm and I may've gone Styris or Bond.

Bond would bowl 3 deliveries then need to stretchered off.

Still a better option than Devcich, though.

Shame Brownlie hasn't bowled a ball in any game anywhere since 2012. Nearly got an ATG out in a Test once.

43.3
Brownlie to Clarke, 1 run, 118 kph, this is friendly stuff, worked into the covers for a single.
43.4
Brownlie to Ponting, no run, back of a length outside off, Ponting stays back and steers it into the off side.
43.5
Brownlie to Ponting, no run, appeal for lbw, turned down by Rauf. Taylor refers it, and this could get very interesting. Brownlie sends in the sort of deceptive inswinger Ponting himself was good at. (Remember Eden Gardens, 2001, just before lunch on that day?) Ponting was forward, though it wasn't too full and trying to cover the line, but it beat the bat and hit him high on the flap of the pad. Ponting is an expert at getting out of the line of off stump with that big lunge, and he's again escaped. The ball was hitting off stump, but hit the pad outside the line. Punter lives.

Not sure about that, Latham and Ronchi are good hitters.
Latham was not as bad as I thought he might be (I had gone with the general opinion that a solid test opener might struggle to bat at tail end of ODIs). Ronchi is good but ideally I would have him at no.7. NZ were in a good position today and had lost just 2 wickets when it came to 40th over. Otherwise I wouldn't fancy a batting line up that has Latham at 5 and Ronchi at 6.
