But the second sound was perfectly aligned to the ball hitting the pocket, soThat review was... Faulty
I think the fault was wiith the footage and sound that was not in synced properly. Poor.
There was clearly two sounds though.
de Kock rolled his ankle in warm-upsWhy on earth is AB keeping?
Really? Morkel was outstanding in Sri Lanka. It pains me to say it, but Morkel might need a bit of time away from Test cricket. He has disgusting potential but he has been coasting in the team for a while now. He needs a wake-up.
Oh, thanks for confirming....was wondering if they went back to AB 'the keeper' strategy.de Kock rolled his ankle in warm-ups
Are you really surprised? it's happening in most series these daysThat was a disgraceful decision. I hope management make a right fuss of it afterwards. We're having a hard enough time as it is without things like that going against us. There is simply no excuse for TV umpires getting things that badly wrong.
Hold strong boys. In the past when something like that happens the whole team gets affected by it and displays zero mental fortitude. Now would be the time to change that!
Agreed. Also I think the poorer quality teams, like ourselves, often suffer more because more chances and shouts are generated against our batsmen and therefore the umpires are under more pressure.I can understand your frustration, but you're hardly the only team getting poor decisions. There are just some awful umpires out there right now, and everyone's getting some shockers.
But these are 3rd umpires with EVIDENCE at hand ...and these decisions are too clear to be a "mistake" imo!!..something isn't right here.I can understand your frustration, but you're hardly the only team getting poor decisions. Yeah definitely unacceptable imo. It's pretty shocking how umpires get away with such awful potentially game-changing mistakes. Unless Reiffel had access to a different camera angle or a snicko replay which synced up properly with the footage showing that the snick occurred when the ball passed the bat, he has zero excusesAgreed. Also I think the poorer quality teams, like ourselves, often suffer more because more chances and shouts are generated against our batsmen and therefore the umpires are under more pressure.
I don't think it's a conspiracy theory at all but this mistake was bad enough to merit a complaint from the WICB and the severe reprimanding of Reiffel. We simply can't have that level of incompetence at international level, it's unfair.
You're not the only team which has suffered at the hands of tv umpires either. It's just incompetent umpiring. But these are 3rd umpires with EVIDENCE at hand ...and these decisions are too clear to be a "mistake" imo!!..something isn't right here.
If you look at the frame after the ball hit the pocket, the ball passes but the sound still registers. But the second sound was perfectly aligned to the ball hitting the pocket, so
the only conclusion is that the first sound occurred as it appeared, with the ball a good foot beyond the bat (and the sound was a muffly bump on Snicko, not a sharp spike as an edge would have been).
It wasn't a sharp spike though. If you look at the frame after the ball hit the pocket, the ball passes but the sound still registers.
Yep there is not 100% conclusive evidence to overturn the onfield decision so it should have stayed not out... But i still believe it was out. So it is a matter of opinion... By no means is it a shocker. It wasn't a sharp spike though.
Regardless, I hardly think there was 100% concrete evidence that it was out, which is the established precedent for drs to overturn the on field decision. There is no way anyone can be 100% convince that was out. Its just baffling inconsistency from the umpires.
To read WW you would imagine they are the ONLY side to ever get a bad one from the tv umpire. Every side has good and bad ones just the fans conveniently forget the good ones and focus on the bad. You're not the only team which has suffered at the hands of tv umpires either. It's just incompetent umpiring.
Or the last time pakistan toured south africa and the third umpire completely ignored hotspot. To read WW you would imagine they are the ONLY side to ever get a bad one from the tv umpire. Every side has good and bad ones just the fans conveniently forget the good ones and focus on the bad.
This one wasn't as bad as the Khawaja one in the ashes 2013. Now that was a shocker.
