Congrats Australia for the win coming out of a tough time. Great test match with lot of great performances - Lyon, Warner and Kohli all out in top tier performances.
Do not forget Clarke. Played a crucial and courageous knock on day 2.

Congrats to Australia for fighting it out till the end as they usually do. This win doesn't come as a surprise.

Credit to Lyon.

Hmm yeah, I guess but Kohli saying he told the team yesterday that whatever target we get we should go for it. Don't think MSD overall has that mentality so clearly which actually turns out bad for India at times.

Only difference today though i think would have been MSD coming in himself instead of Saha. Kohli was egging on Saha when he started attacking.
Yea Kohli gave Ind a chance at a win.. If MSD was around Ind prob would've pulled off the draw?

We are going to be fine. We did well. In the end, it was too much pressure. This is a very young side when it comes to experience. Far more experienced line-ups have capitulated to such pressure. Like Kohli's captaincy. Would like MS to come back in the next match as a non-captain wicket-keeper. Also, need either of Ashwin or Jadeja. Plus I would rather have Umesh than Ishant, however much people don't like the Aaron-Umesh combine. Ishant has started having his "unlucky" spells again.

Also, Rohit, never do this **** again. Rayudu ahead of him for the third test if he pulls the same crap in the 2nd test.

Well done Aussies, and well done to India's top 4.

Give Rohit some credit, the potential overseas innings he just played was amazing

Dhoni would have just tried to draw the game. Incredible cricket from both teams. I will nitpick and say India missed a beat when they went for all out attack when Saha came into bat. Saha can bat and if he and Kohli could have just carried on instead of throwing the kitchen sink at every thing, we could have got through.

Any one who has any idea still that Rohit Sharma is a great bat or whatever should just see his inning today.

Also, Manjrekar is so ****ing idiotic. Kept bashing Shami when he was clearly just trying to win the game instead of following the defending and going for the draw.

I loved how Lyon thumped the Hughes number on the ground. Watched most of today's play and it was one of the most passionate I have seen both teams.

Just make Kohli permanent captain ffs.

If UDRS was around too India might have had a chance . . . BCCI oafs to be blamed for that one
If DRS was around Lyon would've got Kohli lbw at 60 something.. it would be a completely different game.. no Vijay 99, Dhawan/Rahane get to do something, etc etc..

What would make BCCI switch stances? so ********.

Bold and what turned out to be a good declarations twice as well.
Re declarations - I think 2nd one was very good, given the stats plus the state of the pitch it was to fair to declare at that stage and an Indian victory could only be possible if there was a blinder of a partnership (provided by Kohli & Vijay).

The first one was good no doubt but I get the feeling that Clarke declares a tad bit too early in the 1st innings. Idk but I'm a fan of huge 1st innings runs, causes more scoreboard pressure and ensures faster play in the second innings.

There were few turning points in the game. Kohli's timing of dismissal in both innings hurt us big time more than anything. Having said that we can't really fault him for the effort he has put in.

I am starting to like him as a captain. Appears aggressive compared to MSD.

OK ratings:

Warner 10 - twin tons. Can't see what else he could do though his second ton was lucky.
Rogers 2 - not a good Test. He's lucky about what happened to Australia's next opening option....
Watson 3.5 - slightly better than Rogers with the bat but was still underwhleming. Bowling has lost a lot of its efficiency. Clarke's injury has probably saved him.
Clarke 9 - may not have been the most fluent ton ever, but it's up there with the gutsiest.
Smith 10 - not dismissed all test, looked great all match. Well done.
Marsh 5 - two pretty good starts but failed to kick on (particularly first dig) when there was an opportunity to make a big one. Bowling was tidy if somewhat innocous.
Haddin 4.5 - not much to write home about with the bat. Kept fairly well though did make the occasional mistake.
Johnson 5.5 - not his best work. Did bowl with serious fire at times, though.
Harris 7 - very unlucky to only get two wickets. Think he bowled very well.
Siddle 2 - not good. This could be the end.
Lyon 10 - masterclass in finger-spin bowling. 12 wickets, and created lots more opportunities too. Well deserved MOTM.

Dhawan 3 - sawn off second innings but still doesn't look convincing. Will probably play Brisbane but it might not be pretty for him.
Vijay 8.5 - yes his second innings was jammy but twin 50's is a very good look for an opener and he helped India get far closer to saving/winning the Test than what they probably should've.
Pujara 6 - tough one. Scored runs but looked nervous at times, particularly against Nathan Lyon.
Kohli 10 - it isn't his fault his side lost. I guess his captaincy in the field was lacking at times, but he batted brilliantly, particularly in the second dig.
Rahane 6 - slightly jammy first innings but still scored runs. Sawn off second dig. That said his work against the spinner seemed poor.
R Sharma 3 - should be shot for his second innings dig. Worst batting when India were in a decent position.
Saha 6 - looked pretty organised with the bat and didn't really make any glaring errors that I remember with the gloves.
K Sharma 3.5 - yes Adelaide isn't the easiest place to bowl spin but I think he bowled too many pies to really be effective. Despite averaging over 20 looked pretty bad with the bat too. Shouldn't have been picked over Ashwin.
Shami 4 - bowled some good spells at times, but also bowled way too many crap. And unlike Aaron he doesn't have the excuse of being naturally wild and hostile. Fun batting though.
I Sharma 5 - didn't bowl anywhere near the same tripe as everyone else, but also looked fairly ineffective.
Aaron 3 - bowled some hostile spells but is still too raw and inconsistent. Might do better on a spicier pitch, though.
