That's a more general point. I'm talking specifically about India in these couple of overseas tours. A baptism of fire like the one in England will make them tougher characters imo. You can talk about technique being overrated all you want but those collapse were because the ball swung and there was substantial carry in the pitches. The first match in that series was on a far easier pitch, and we batted all right there. Yet, we almost collapsed in the second innings and lost the game on the last day. Took an innings from Binny of all people to get a draw. We were just as much under the cosh there as in the other tests. But because the conditions were good for batting they were able to get out of trouble.
MSD score runs and has a pretty terrible technique.

Binny, Bhuvi and Vijay managed runs too and they are decent technically, but not in the class of Pujara/Kohli.

IMO they did struggle initially due to technical problems, but that gradually grew to become a metal one as the series wore on. Perhaps they were just not used to such a prolong stretch of failure, and as such didn't know how to deal with it. Perhaps they were shot mentally from such a long season. But that's what worried be about their performances in England; that they couldn't find a way to adapt their techniques and grind out ugly runs. All the greats can do it.

Hopefully, as you said, they learnt and grew from it.

And as I type all that...Goddamn it Kohli.

Ah it was fun while it lasted. Time for Mitch to wipe out the lower order, pick up a five fer, and leave India ripe for a pummeling.

Classic Kohli, out between 100 and 120.

Saha not given a nightwatchman; India giving him as few chances to prove himself as #BetterThanDhoni as possible. Don't want a selection quandary on their hands when MSD doesn't compare favourably.

What are Channel 9 speed guns showing for Johnson? Indian speed guns are showing him to be averaging around 141 k's with fastest being 146 k's I think.

Kohli is not gonna fix his average if he doesn't learn to cash in and make the big score.. A HS <120 is just.. Not good enough. Good knock tho.

Indian tail is also long for this game. Karn Sharma can bat a bit but dunno how he would hold up at this level.

Beyond that it's Ishant who can hang around a bit and 2 standing wickets.

Steve Waugh tweets: Virat Kohli has impressed me yet again. Stands tall and confident out there. Plays like an Australian. #appreciation #goodform
Australia resorting to higher order jinxing techniques. Someone place Sachin & Rahul a call

Ashwin would have liked this pitch in the third innings.

Geez Saha is brave; keeps strike to face Mitch in the final over.

Also I like how the commentators are back to baying for blood. Repeated highlights of Saha being hit. Didn't take all that long did it.

lol No, Ishant's gonna be bounced out easily, Karn sharma looks more like a hitter rather than a technical batsman from the little I've seen, but I could be wrong. The less said about Shammi and Aaron the better.

Also didn't Saha play at this ground the last time too? Aussie coms acting like its the first time they've seen him.
