Does anyone know how someone like Brian Chari managed to get a game for the Zimbabweans?

Congrats to Bangladesh!!! 3-0 series sweep is pretty huge and the best thing about this last game, is that they didn't rely on Shakib at all with the ball.

Bangladesh simply have very good young quality players. Last year the test series IN Zimbabwe was 1:1 but Zimbabwe despite putting in a good effort yet lost this series 3-0. The final test today was a batting pitch despite the slight turn later. Zimbabwe were clearly unsure of whether to go for the win/draw and I feel they should've just gone for the draw and would've just about got it with that method right from the beginning. Like I've said earlier, Zimbabwe when they tour Bangladesh they mostly lose regardless how close the margins are whereas when Bangladesh tours Zimbabwe the games are pretty much neck and neck and last year Zimbabwe slightly came on top.

Don't forget Bangladesh this time last year drew the 2 match test series with New Zealand 0:0 and whitewashed them again 3:0 so very positive signs for Bangladesh Cricket and proving they will come of age one day whether we like it or not. They just need top quality fast bowlers and work on their consistency to become a very good team. They have the talent, interest, support, funds, stadiums etc

So, to recap - Bangladesh have a few good players and Zimbabwe don't really have any
Slightly odd, but Zimbabwe are able to come out of the series "accentuating the positives" - Masakadza, Raza, and Chakabva had great series, Panyangara was pretty good. If they pick Williams and get Taylor back to form then their batting is looking pretty decent (surely Mawoyo is the best option as opener?). Bowling is a bit more problematic, but three of Panyangara, Masakdza, Vitori and Chatara make up a respectable seam attack - good enough to bowl out Pakistan twice.... They lack a spinner though, but they're not exactly alone in that among non-sub-continent test sides... (I thought Cremer would have been the number one choice - is he still playing?)

Nope.

Cremer retired, Utseya and Waller are banned. Greg Lamb just came out of retirement so he'd be an option.

Nyumbu did quite well in his first few games though; I thought he was pretty harshly dealt with (which is how this coach rolls tbf).

Because pride in talent identification ability. Which is why I go on and on about how I thought TPC could be a Test quality bat when everybody hates on him post-10/11 Ashes, meanwhile I never mention how much I liked Phil Hughes prior to his Test debut :P

For every Mominul, OS has probably backed an Ashraful.
Exactly. Used to be a big Sreesanth fan back in the day :(

How did you feel when he found out he was a cheat?
Wasnt any more disgusted or disappointed than anyone else at that time. Had given up on him a while before that came out. Still maintain he could've been brilliant. If only he had a brain

Yes, I love to do this :) Backed Kevin Pietersen to be one of the best batsmen in the world before he made his debut.. and backed Ravi Jadeja to become one of the best ODI allrounders that India ever had..before he made his debut and then, when everyone was asking him to be dropped..

Can't do it here with guys who know about cricket and especially domestic cricket very well. But got praises from my friends who do not follow domestic cricket much for my talent identification ability :)

A big failure that way was Vijay Bharadwaj. That was a huge wrong guess.

And here many of you saying that Zimbabwe should win on tour here. They have lost the 50 over practice match just now. This same team was all over NZ last year.

Shakib is in beast form now.

Really would like to see BD be competitive in the world cup. He has to keep this up for that to happen.

Undoubtedly the best all-rounder in all forms of the game..

Greatest ODI all-rounder of all-time? There is an argument for it.

If he has a good world cup run, pulls off a few match wining performances against Aus/Eng/Ind/RSA...the definitely.

BD off to a good start. Masakadza b. Mashrafe first over defending 252 under lights.

Didn't realise Vusi Sibanda bowled. Zim seem to have an army of part-timers who all decide pre-game who will act as the 5th bowler. Raza, Masakadza, Chigumbura, Mire...

Is there really an argument for it? Can I hear it, Shakib is a fine player, but to think he is the greatest ODI all-rounder ever, seems completely wrong.

Perhaps best spin-bowling allrounder ever. He doesn't have much competition in the ODI arena in that department tbh. Maybe I'll do some stats digging later.
