Haha, I appreciate Mixmasterreece dropping in here occasionally, but I wish he could replace that Bevan Congdon avatar itbt. The connotation between the avatar and the posting is just all wrong.

Haha i haven't placed a tip since second round xD.
I missed the first round which puts me out of the running - I also have only placed tips once in the entire competition and certain teams (Otago) are playing horribly while others (Canterbury) are playing unbelievably.

Aaaaaand as usual you have no actual clue of why he's pulled himself out.
I honestly thought that the term "no comment" was self-explanatory enough that people would not need an interpreter to understand its meaning.

It means I am not making a judgement on the situation. Because I do not know what has happened.

Please let me know if you need further explanation of common phrases.

I took it to mean you taking a dig at him over repeated behavior that you've previously said means you wouldn't consider him for selection. That's how it came across if you recall your previous points about him.

Would you afford everyone this sort of leniency? Let's say Ross pulls out of a Test tour, can we trust that you'll reserve judgement and not label it a lazy decision by a cricketer who doesn't put his country first?

There'd want to be a very good reason. This sideshow does not need to wind into 2015 and nearer the World Cup.

Yes. Especially Ross. I'll still say he is a lazy cricketer. I'll still say he should've put his team first but I'd realise that we don't have enough players of Ross' callibre to be able to drop him or not take him for selection.

Why? Because I believe in winning and to win, NZ simply can't afford to have its best talent sitting at home twiddling its thumbs.

The subtext seems to relate to Ryder having personal issues and not feeling ready to play cricket, hence withdrawing himself from the NZ A tour. Stuff, et all, including other posters here will make it seem like he went and got in a punch up or was hungover and missed the flight but my understanding is that wasn't the case and he made an active decision (including informing his team) that he could not play the match and subsequently doesn't feel prepared to tour. The full knowledge of what occured hasn't happened and NZ Cricket confirmed it was not their decision to exclude him from the tour.

Noone on here is making assumptions.
You'll note I said "subtext" and "seems to relate" and quoted "Stuff" not "People who have already posted here" - give it two to three days and "He had a punch up" or "He was drunk" will come out of posters here. Guarantee it.

Not Terrible
Inb4 Blocky quotes the first few responses on CW to the initial news article as evidence of an anti-Ryder and fairness contingent.

Yeah, na. People may have responded with assumptions but it was due to the sensationalistic news that dogs Ryder, and irregardless of the reason he is missing the A tour. This is still a big set back for his WC chances and is frustrating for everyone who would like him to be in the setup.

That's the reality of Ryder - he's newsworthy so he'll get constant attention on anything related to him being in the NZ side. NZ'ers in general also don't deal well with talented enfant terribles like Jesse Ryder is, because of the tall poppy syndrome and the misguided principle that "culture comes first, winning comes second" that is firmly ensconsed in the nation.

As for quoting the first few responses, no real need - you already know there is an anti-Ryder contingent here, it's why your brought it up in your "Let's just make a statement to invalidate all future statements" approach.
