Also let me say that the stick Blocky is getting is oh so typical. When anyone has the nerve to think for themselves it's frowned upon and the pack mentality kicks in...no-one is saying you have to agree with the guy..hell during the WI/NZ series much of what he was saying i simply couldn't stomach..but i didn't get abusive towards the guy did i? and start calling him "troll" and this kind of school kid nonsense!!.. ..some posters need to just chill out and not get too emotionally caught up, cause it really doesn't add anything positive to the forum or the debates.

I'm on mobile so i'll get a proper reply in later but few things:
1) only 2 ppl in this thread have claimed Astle has more potential than Sodhi, I don't know how that makes up 'most' of the nz fans. Anyways Astle is 28; he's past the 'young lad with potential' stage.
2) the fact that you bring up stats shows that you clearly didn't watch the match
3) better performance isn't indicative of more potential; a former FC cricketer should know this
4) where is the proof that you are an FC cricketer btw?

Only two people...? Are you blind? So far the only person who seems absolutely certain that Sodhi is the best spin bowler we have is Howsie. The rest are all pretty much of the opinion that Tastle is better. Tastle has a stupidly strong following considering how **** he is as a player..

Better performance over 100 wickets is indicative that you're a better performer. If you're that good of a performer but can't out perform your peers in any format, then you're not that good of a performer, basically.

I don't need to prove anything, you can take me at face value or you can play haterade about it - the fact remains, I'm here to debate cricket and laugh at people like you who get offended when I dare say Taylor is a lazy trainer.

Please. When it comes to Sodhi you're completely irrational. Unless Sodhi bowls the perfect leg break the wicket doesn't count, it was simply down to an 'error' by the batsman (and this coming from a Neil Wagner fan no less). Two pages back you then state had Watling been better behind the stumps you could argue Craig was better than Sodhi, WHAT. So Craig can pick up wickets with batsman charging down the pitch looking to slog him out of the attack, or batsman playing reverse sweeps etc but Sodhi can't? Explain that one for me. Why in the world would they count for Craig but not Sodhi?

Surely this type of reasoning doesn't have anything to do with a strong bias against him

FTR Blocky, I argue for Tastle to open the batting since we've got literally no decent non-Latham options, and provide a pie-throwing spin option so both Neesham and Anderson can play (since, as I'm sure you'd agree, Neesham is crazily talented and deserves his spot yet Anderson is ahead of him on performance right here, right now). Basically, why pick two **** players when you can pick one **** player and have him play both roles?
