Geez Pakistan building quite a solid home record, would love to see India v Pak in test matches, to think its been 7 years since the last series.
Yeah, the BCCI have announced several series with Pakistan. We're scheduled to tour UAE in December next year, and Pakistan will come here in 2017. It's something like 12-13 tests in 5 years. Should be awesome. It's been way too long.

Yeah, good point. Thought he was around 25-26.

Still, though, lots of spinners get away with being erratic in FC cricket where lots of batsmen arent good enough to wait for the loose delivery and put it away ruthlessly. These guys are found out brutally when they're exposed to test cricket, often even if they are selected quite late.
Think it can be harder for countries with smaller FC systems than England's to produce a spinner at that age. Swann had a few not-so-good years in County , he'd be thrown away in Aus/NZ for the next thing coming along rather than being able to bide his time and continue playing regular FC cricket.

Smash might be too optimistic, but we'd have more of a chance than some of these other teams, tbh. We certainly wouldn't be rolled over like this in such good conditions that's for sure.
Definitely. It is hard to see Zulfi and Yasir doing much damage to India. Can also see rahat getting duly smashed around the park. Imran Khan probably wouldn't even be picked against India (sounds weird saying that given that the real Imran used to run through India at times :p)

We'll see what transpires in the next two tests but perhaps NZ's "rise" was a bit premature? lets look at it...

1. At home they beat a WI side with half it's best players missing

2. At home they beat an India side who don't travel well

3. away they beat a WI side intent on killing themselves

That's hardly proving much is it? there was no variaty in this recent good spell....two wins against a lower ranked side and one win against a side who can't perform outside their roads...

It wasn't long ago England and SA beat NZ just as bad if not worser than what Pak are doing now...so maybe NZ's true standing is a little inbetween the two? can pull off the odd decent performance but more often than not come up short against the very top teams.

No doubt..there's a lot to work with there but finding a partner for Latham seems an issue, mccullum seems to be on the decline and Neesham/Anderson shouldn't be in anyones top six imo.

Watling, Southee and Boult are decent when they are on form but like we've discussed before the spin department is a major concern aswell...bottom line is until these areas of concern are addressed it's always gonna be one step forward and two back methinks.

Been another great team effort by Pakistan. Misbah is some captain managing to get them to play as a unit far more often than not.

Now for them to be so confident that the team is doing well that they can reincorporate Afridi into the team, it all falls apart and we begin the cycle again..

Good question. I guess the pitches in the uae are more sporting and generally suit our bowling. Pitches in Pakistan are ridiculously Roady. Better chance of winning here
