Team mentally collapsed after that Penalty decision. Still very fragile in that department and the defenders individually were all poor as well.

Completely stopped playing once Di Maria went off as well which is worrying.


Also LVG is being too nice with the referees in game or after it just like Moyes. Probably even more so by not seeming bothered in game and deflecting blame afterwards. SAF would have slaughtered some referees so far this season for not getting the 50/50 decisions we haven't gotten before and completely gone ape**** today making sure Clattenburg doesn't see United again this season while making sure the referees from next time are under big pressure. So would have Maureen insinuating all kinds of stuff for giving 6 penalties and 3 red cards against United in the last 3 games he has officiated.

Shocking defending isn't new but the collapse after the penalty is a worry. Looked a bit naf going forward when Di Maria went off although we were getting overrun in the middle by then. I think LVG wasn't expecting competitive games every week tbh. The Evans injury and the Blackett send off just exposes the lack of defenders even more.

Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw

Shaw should be a improvement over Rojo today certainly at LB and Rojo over Blackett centrally in his preferred position in a back 4 though yet to see how he adapts to the PL.

Most of our defenders being injury prone and getting injured every few games is a nuisance. Jones started the season excellently and got injured again. Evans and Smalling both keep getting injured in game too.

Pretty much has to be those 4 unless he goes to 3 cbs again which would be crazy. I don't rate Smalling so him and Rojo in the middle spells goals. Blind will need to sit very deep with those 2. When's Carrick back?
