***Official*** English Domestic Season 2014

You wonder why England are so bad at ODI cricket then you see Warwickshire and Kent going into a domestic 50 over semi final having just come off the back off a four day game which finished last evening. So much for preparation. Can't expect much quality from this game.

Still I think this seasons tournament has been an improvement on previous years.

Boyd in the wickets again. Needs a serious look for the WC, has really got back into white ball form as the season has progressed.

Rankin is definitely when on form in england's best 4 odi fast bowlers. He demands respect from the opposition and even for the best of international batsmen he is awkward to face. Unfortunately he has a massively dodgy fitness (and related form) issue which just always puts an asterick against his name. Also he doesn't field or bat well so that's another * against his name. England are gonna be pretty nervous about selecting Rankin again really. It would be a gamble. Imo they'd definitely be selecting him if he either didn't have the fitness record he does or he could contribute more in the field or with the bat.

It might be worth a gamble given the alternative options but England will be worried about selecting one of their fifteen in the squad with massive concerns over his general fitness. His bowling when on form possibly isn't good enough to make up for the shortcomings of his fitness, batting and fielding.

There is no doubt that on days like these he makes a compelling case for selection. Just so awkward and tough to face even for decent county bats (Key, Northeast, Nash)

Billings can seriously play, not an option for WC you wouldn't think but in the future has to have an eye kept on him.

I went to the first day of the Roses game and it was downhill from the toss. The less said the better. Clear out of playing and coaching staff needed for next season.

Sadly Kyle Hogg has had to retire due to injury, when fit and firing he was a good county bowler, played his part in our championship and in our promotion last year, will be missed. Our bowling attack next season will be interesting.

Really sad to see Hogg forced out of the game - looks like the bowling next season will be as threadbare as the batting

Maybe you bastards will finally give Kyle Jarvis a game
TBF he was crap in the two games he played earlier in the year and then was crap in the ODs (as you would expect) when he was brought back. Hasn't set the world alight in the second team either. I'd guess he is injured at the moment though as he isn't playing second team at the moment. Hopefully he is fit to start the season next year and gets a run in the side and produces.

Not hopeful but would be great to see Mahmood get a few games next year, by all accounts the kid has got wheels. Plus it would be great to see S Mahmood on the team sheet and be able to breath a sigh of relief it isn't Saj.

However my predictions is it will be jobs for the boys as usual, Watkinson will stay on, Chapple will retire and get the coaches job. Our opening bowling attack will be Nathan Buck and maybe Kyle Jarvis and we will make another Wayne Whitesque signing (Buck is only 23 so I guess he isn't as bad as White), can't think of anyone that fits the bill at the moment but I'm sure the powers that be will find someone. Meanwhile Mahmood, Hameed, Parkinson etc might get a few second team games but not chance of a first team game and we will still have a first team squad big on quantity short on quality

Oh that's poor Read, Jos would have snaffled that.

I reckon if Notts still had Footit, Durham would be bowled out now. Footit has become one of my players this year.

Durham have an insanely long batting lineup but doesn't look like they're going to need it. Bowling is a bit short of main options mind.

Hey Scaly, I thought you might be complaining about Stokes playing for Durham, whilst Notts miss two key players because of England duties. Consistency is important I feel.
