Ridiculous game, could so easily have been 4-0 after 20 minutes but Sociedad easily deserved it in the end.

I just don't think fans should worry about fees etc, unless it's a case of you get him or two others, or if there's a danger of doing a Leeds which clearly there isnt
Exactly. This is what I meant by fees meaning nothing now (for clubs like Arsenal, not the rest of us.) If it was a choice of Sanogo upfront or overpaying for someone then you got to overpay for someone.

Arsenal aren't getting funded by some stupidly rich billionaire who's bored though. They're rich, but it's mostly from net transfer sales and the like.

I don't see why it's something 'fans', in particular shouldn't worry about btw. Why should the importance of value and the price not be consistent throughout the club hierarchy?

The whole market is so ****ed up I don't know what value and price really are anymore. Arsenal need a striker and they can afford one.

It's not FM though, we can't just go overspend on Falcao and be lumbered with him and then try and force him out the door next summer if it doesn't work out so we can sign someone else.

If it's an option between Falcao now and Benzema/Higuain/Reus someone better next year then you wait. We can't afford everyone always.

Yeah I am not saying the should only be going for Falcao, I still think he would be a gamble worth taking though, unless he has got a lot worse since he was at Atletico.

But at the same time signing one guy now who's not as good as who you could get a year from now could be the difference between a title challenge and another season of finishing 4th. Just speaking theoretically

But is a one year title challenge with an ageing, declining and irreplaceable Falcao better than another 4th place and securing Higuain up too for 4 years? No.

It's why I'd have taken Remy. Less risk an easier to move on and less of a loss made if we do.
I still really like Jackson Martinez ftr.

Where's the other 900 Arsenal fans that were in here touting their title-winning side a month ago?

Saying you wouldn't take Falcao as well, just lol.

Why on earth would you want the Spuds to sign Schneiderlin still? I appreciate he's quality but you have about 400 players to play there
How many of the 400 do you think are better than Schneiderlin?

Well played Pool, plenty of improvement required against the good teams. I think we are good enough against weaker teams.

1. If a one year title challenge ended with you winning it, then of course it's worth it, especially as the transfer fee would be repaid, you'd have automatic CL football etc
2. He's 28 isn't he? Bloody hell
3. I must have missed Higuain being guaranteed

I'm sorry but, though I was being theoretical before, you turning Falcao down would be absurd if you have the chance to get him today and it's not at the cost of anyone better for this season.

If United get their **** together, the usual 4th could even be a threat. I'm loathe to judge off a few games but Arsenal definitely look a step below Liverpool and a lot more beneath City/Chavs (community shield notwithstanding). Of course it is just the start and Sanchez is looking the business etc, regardless my point is waiting a year could mean trying to attract players for Europa League football because you didn't act this season.

People say the same every year and it never happens. It does seam Falcao is pretty well rated on these boards still when a lot of people are coming round to the fact he isn't all that. An upgrade on what we've got for sure but I'm not convinced he's absolutely elite or warrants what we'd have to pay him. Higuain wouldn't be guaranteed next year but we'd be guaranteed not to get him if we signed Falcao for 3 years this summer.

I still think you missed the point though, winning the league this year is not preferable to fourth and winning it for the next three, for example. Again there's no guarantees but the way people are talking makes it sound like if we sign him you might as well give us the title now which is ****.

Meh,, I don't know what's less likely though. Us getting him or 'United getting their **** together'.

Falcao is a goal scorer who'll still give you 20 in the league, something Arsenal hasn't had for a while.

If Arsenal don't want to spend that much, why not give City a helping out by buying Negredo. It helps their FFP cause, they get to buy Falcao, and you guys get a decent forward who might be really good in your system.

At a slightly lower level, Welbeck wouldn't cost an arm and a leg and I reckon he is much better than Sanogo.
