Clause-Mystery-Choice Draft Thread 2014

bagapath

International Captain
Bob Simpson (Captain)
WG Grace
NUMBER 3
Everton Weekes
Gary Sobers
Gilbert Jessop
Prasanna Jayawardene (wk)
John Snow
Curtley Ambrose
Ken Higgs
Clarrie Grimmett

I have two useful cricketers: Jayawardene and Higgs
Three very good ones: Snow, Simpson, Jessop
Five ATGs: Ambrose, Grace, Grimmett, Sobers and Weekes

Won't mind one more ATG to make the team balance 6-5 in terms of true greatness

EDIT: Yup, you're right overratedsanity. John Snow was a very good poet but an ATG fast bowler.

I have two useful cricketers: Jayawardene and Higgs
Two very good ones: Simpson and Jessop
Six ATGs: Ambrose, Grace, Grimmett, Snow, Sobers and Weekes

Won't mind one more ATG to make the team balance 7-4 in terms of true greatness

I think it was because it tied up neatly with his "Monk-gets-Larwood-gets-Martin's-vote" theory.

In what way? Because he was who you thought I should go for?
Because starting at Ian Johnson and nearly arriving at Harold Larwood was a lot like this Chevy Chase scene......

......of all the things that could have wrong but surprisingly didn't.

Good Morning and Bon Jour Aldo.

D. WK, West Indies, 1962

Got a 1 in 3 chance of getting a great keeper. That's good enough for the bush.

Ending up at the bottom of a round like this is absolutely ****ed. No choice at all now. I'm going to hate my own team.

Bonjour watson! Saw your message just now, I guess I had gone to bed few minutes before.

Needed a batsman so it was J or H. From the looks of it I'll be getting Archie Maclaren. I already have two openers so I guess he'd be going into the middle order. Not sure how he'd be received in that position, from what I read he was tactically very astute and adaptable so I presume it won't be a big issue.

I think that you're being a bit 'glass half empty'. The only iffy player in that lineup is Amir which is not bad because everyone has an iffy player in their lineup. I've got George Thompson for example.

1. Hutton
2. Rowe
3. Hammond
4. Tendulkar
5. Kallis
6. De Villiers
7.
8. Lindwall
9. Turner
10. Amir
11. O'Reilly

Maclaren has a HS of 120 at No.5, so I don't think his position in the order is an issue. IMO most openers can bat anywhere, it's the other way around that is more of a problem.
