You're absolutely right, I have no idea where I've remembered it as 3-1.They definitely didn't win 3-1 here. It was 1-0.

England 2000-2013 (which spans two decades) were no way short of confidence + experience as they are now. Sorry, this is the worst home England side India have come up against for a long time. You said " by an England team with a crisis of confidence not seen for decades" dope!
Dhoni is an idiot when it comes to things like these, a fact that you have not fallen short of emphasizing at every opportune moment. And even if he wasn't, how is a keeper with suspect batting technique supposed to guide top order batsmen?
Yeah, 1-0, with a narrow escape as well in the 1st Test. I also remember Anil Kumble being the only one to ton up in a line up with Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Laxman & Dhoni. They definitely didn't win 3-1 here. It was 1-0.
Come on, comparing ODI cricket with test cricket? Test experience is totally different. And yes, these collapses are due to inexperience. Kohli, Pujara and Rahane are superb talents who will in all probability put this behind them and come good again. Only a matter of time, hopefully.Fact is you said there was literally no experienced players. Fact is that Dhoni has played plenty of tests in England, Rahane/Kohli/Dhawan have all at least played ODI cricket in England. They are inexperienced, but that cannot be used as an excuse for the collaspses we have seen? Its the manner of defeats more than anything.
I always thought he looked liked an overgrown rat (no disrespect).(his good looks might end up being a curse lol!).
I'm not disagreeing with large parts of what you wrote, Kohli stuff is pretty much bang on. He was never the best young player in the world in Tests IMO (not even best in his own team) but he also shouldn't be dropped. However experience can't be an excuse for the guttlessness of some of the dismissals. Rahane's 2nd dig in the 4th test? Dhoni's? The lack of spine in the side is something which surely is most dissapointing and doens't have much to do with experience, look how Moeen Ali for example battled at Headingley.Come on, comparing ODI cricket with test cricket? I just think way too much has been made of these defeats with regards to the batsmen. Yeah, they've been poor, but talks of dropping Kohli have been doing the rounds in the media. Utterly ridiculous. It's as if no young batsman has ever had his technical defects exposed by quality bowlers. Before th series, he was being hailed as the best young batsman in the world, Now, because he's in a really bad patch, he's rubbish. It's as if players can only be one of two things : Locked-on ATG or a garbage player who will never succeed.
Oh, don't worry!Just got a ticket for the 3rd day at the Oval. Never been for a Test, as much as it pains me to give Slurry CCC money I am looking forward to it.
You can for Sehwag. If he'd had his shoulder fixed in plenty of time he wouldn't have shown up unprepared.India were ****ter in 2011. Our batting was Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Sehwag and Dhoni in that series. Can't blame IPL for that.
I remember laughing so hard at the king pair. Sehwag was coming in to save the day and then that happened. You can for Sehwag. If he'd had his shoulder fixed in plenty of time he wouldn't have shown up unprepared.
I don't even know what we are arguing about. I agree with most of what you have to say. But the inexperience of the batting line-up is definitely a factor in the collapses IMO.England 2000-2013 (which spans two decades) were no way short of confidence + experience as they are now. If India win at the Oval though then that would turn it around. Not only would it show immense character but an away draw is always a credible result against anyone bar the Bangas/Zim.
They did minus Jones who got injured in the warmup. (Or rather re-injured)Did that pace quartet ever play India though? Certainly if they did they wouldn't have been peak surely?
Pretty sure it's been a good twenty years since he's been able to reach his own ****, tbf.and Duncan Fletcher can **** himself
Pretty sure he can still reach his head with his hands mind youPretty sure it's been a good twenty years since he's been able to reach his own ****, tbf.
