***Official*** India in England 2014

Surely England just appeal the anderson decision should he get banned which will likely delay the ban till the end of the series - and he could serve against WI in the April next year. The fact that India managed to appeal the seemingly unappealable lesser charge on Jadeja would suggest that England will definitely appeal and presumably delay any ban.

I doubt he gets a ban anyway. There won't be enough evidence.

Surely it would be served in one day internationals?

The BCCI are managing to appeal an unappealable decision so...

I didn't like his response when Athers asked him about it tbh. If he'd done nothing he would've been confident.

They said there is some camera footage by the stairs, I've got a bad feeling about this as Jimmy didn't look very confident from that MOTM interview, if he was sure he had nothing to worry about he would of seemed more relaxed. Also I think someone said the ban would stand until after an appeal.

Athers is pretty good at asking questions that you cant give a good answer to. see: the question about prior to cook last match

So the Indian post-mortem.

Ashwin absolutely has to come in. We got by with 4-and-a-bit bowlers in the first two Tests cause they weren't scoring runs. But by now it should be clear that the quicks are tired and the quality of their spells are dipping. Jadeja offered a degree of control initially, but once the English batsmen got used to him he became toothless.

Ashwin will offer variety, and between two spinners the quicks can be kept fresh.

Ishant not fit for Old Trafford, so Pankaj/Bhuvi and Pandey would be the way to go IMO. Shami looks tired and is bowling poorly. Pandey couldn't do worse. Bhuvi needs shorter spells, he's looking jaded as well.

Batting wise...Rohit out (for Ashwin) and that's it. Pujara and Kohli need to come good, and I don't think Gambhir would offer more than Dhawan, in the short run and definitely in the long run.

So yea...just two changes to the XI I suppose.

Really India just lost this due to a combination of some bad luck, bad catching, indisciplined bowling, and sloppy batting. They were outplayed but they weren't outclassed. Nothing drastic needs to happen.

So I'd bring Plunkett in for Jordan regardless of the verdict, but what do we do if Jimmy gets banned as well? Bring in Stokes and have Woakes try to replicate Jimmy as the swing bowler in the side (albeit it at a much lower quality)?

Dhawan has to sit one out IMO, just to show him what's what.Agree with Ashwin over Rohit and Pandey over Shami :)

Moeen's gonna become a legitimate Test bowler. He's already improving very quickly, taking wickets against a good quality batting line-up, and if he continues to work on his pace, control and doosra he'll be a real consistent threat. Watch out Saeed. The Beard is coming for ya!
