Jordan WAC. Second game in a row Woakes will get stick after having a greater workload because one of the frontline bowlers fell apart.

I'm not saying Jordan bowled like champion today, but he did produce 4 edges iirc; one dropped by Cook (harsh to call it a drop), one landed in front of slip, inside edge to fine leg and a boundary between slip and gully.

Yeah Woakes beat the bat and had 3 or 4 edges either go past the stumps or through the slips. People typically overreacting to bowling at a good batting line up on a fairly flat pitch.

Jordan did bowl some **** though in amongst some decent deliveries.

People tend to judge by the score board. A thing that will probably never change. Not withstanding Jordan indeed bowled some nasty filth today as well.

I watched the entire day and genuinely thought Woakes and Jordan bowled filth consistently - far below the levels you'd expect of international cricketers. Sure the pitch is a bit of a road, but you need to be able to do the basics right to at least apply some pressure especially with 550+ posted on the board. If those two had a couple of wickets to their names, I'd say the same. Now Anderson I thought bowled some outstanding stuff and was pretty unlucky to only have 3 wickets to his name.

Woakes didn't bowl much off the level of Broad. He was far better than him before lunch. Woakes also going at under 3 RPO, so 'not doing the basics right' is a load of ****. Jordan did spray it around.

Having just watched the highlights of the day's play, a few random musings:

1. Chris Jordan is ****ing terrible
2. Anderson is a beast
3. Moeen's bowling's at a really nice level of "handy 5th bowler", a proper spinner would be gun.
4. Was Rahane the bloke who came into the ODI side the last time India toured and did well?
5. Woakes probably deserved a bit more
6. Can Strauss please **** off out of the commentary box?
7. Should an offie bowling to a right hander not have a leg slip more often than not?

Is the dismissive abusive language (albeit censored) really necessary, or is it offensive for someone who doesn't post regularly to share an opinion? I wasn't very impressed with Woakes at all but of course I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

My favourite moment of the day was when Woakes sent Kohli on his backside.

Yes and probably.

Probably just you. Don't think the batsmen have noticed.
The comms kept going on and on about it, but it seemed about his normal pace. Mid 80s to high 80s at a push.

Broad bowled some excellent deliveries but the comms also kept overrating him all day. He wasn't near Anderson and bowled way to short again (see 3 long hops to Kumar at the end of the day). Still can't argue with 3 wickets.

Ali is the best we have and as long as he is taking wickets he stays in the side for me.

@Bolded; not at all. But I think you shouldn't be as offended as you seem to be if someone uses a swear when saying they disagree with you. Some people can't be arsed with niceties but it doesn't mean they have an issue with you; it's only a cricket opinion.

In his two test matches Woakes has bowled as quick as Anderson and faster than Broad (average pace according to Cricinfo). He seemed to put on a yard from the NZ ODI's last year (Feb-June) to his test debut in late August. In his ODI's he traditionally bowled low 80's so a an average of just over 85 is better.

Jordan is very frustrating when he gets the ball in the right place it looks good. Yet let's face it until he fixes that awful run-up that's not going to happen a lot.

Funny, the England Coaches have been slammed for mucking up peoples actions recently, but surely this is one guy who needs major alterations.

I just hope that, if they try to help and it doesn't work, we won't hear how the England management ruined the talented Jordan by over coaching.

Because Steven Finn was consistently class in test matches wasn't he?

Yeah, it's an argument about Finn I don't get either. The simple thing is he couldn't carry on running into the stumps, particularly as it's giving runs away now. He didn't seem to be able to correct himself, so what where they meant to do?

Yeah that wasn't personal, I think a cursory glance at my posting on here would show that I am in no way 'nice'!
