Inclined to agree, but he's bringing politics into sport, and an especially divisive + tense issue at that. It's going to make a stir.

Good on 'em.
Yeah, reckon at least one England player has worn a 'Help for Heroes' band in the past though, so should be a non issue.

Agreed, it's been an absolute god send. Going back 12 months ago with no snicko DRS was not working to it's potential, tbh during last summers Ashes it was a ****ing joke.

Now it is heaps better and it needs to be used in every test match everywhere in the world. End of.
No, the umpires were a joke during last summer's Ashes.

Both political statements, how is it not similar?
Because the history and politics behind the conflict in Israel and the Palestinians isn't so clear cut. The fact that any time a cease fire truce is called, rockets are fired from the Gaza strip into residential areas in Israel for instance? If Gaza wants to free itself, it wouldn't have elected a government (Hamas) who has the death of Israel as one of their number one ideologies..

The war in Iraq/Afgan wasn't clear cut either.

Why am I not surprised you are on the side of Israel.

I offer you three truths about Chris Jordan.

1. The "Chris Jordan / Test cricket" Venn diagram should have no shaded area of overlap.

2. Whenever commentators refer to someone as a "cricketer", as they do with him, you can safely infer that he's neither good enough as batsman nor bowler.

3. If he continues to attack "minus second stump" as he did in his short spell this evening, his Test career is over for good.

The leg side stuff really has got to stop. Think both Plunkett and Stokes will be feeling a little hard done by having seen that 2 over stint.

Maybe because I actually read and understand the difference between what the reality is - i.e there is no "good" or "bad" and the fact that both sides are making it worse with the constant action and reaction? The sheer fact is that the recent breakdowns in ceasefire started due to attacks from the Palestinian border into Israel. Anyone who talks about "Free Gaza" should point a finger clearly at groups like Hezbollah and Hamas as much as they do Israel.

Anyway, enough talk on politics - I'm not expecting it to be an informed conversation.

I partially agree with you about the middle eastern conflict, but I think the most dangerous idea of all is that Moeen should only be allowed to make a political statement on the cricket field if you agree with it. It's either okay to do that or it's not; it shouldn't be okay only if you think he's on the right side.

Well personally I think it's a huge double standard, remembering the case of Henry Olonga and Andy Flower as case and point. I don't think politics has any part to play in sport, especially considering professional athletes and celebrities are usually the worst informed about the causes they support.

Perfect couple of days really for England, just about everything we wanted out of it we've got........with the exception of maybe a good new ball spell from Broad last night.

As great a position as this is though I think the real test is yet to come if we are going to win this test. I know it's a cliche but there will be some key passages of play in the coming days which England have got to grab in order to win.......that is no easy thing for a team to do that hasn't won in so long. If we fail to win those key moments this will end a draw and that is pretty much useless to us at this point.

Cooks got some runs under his belt, now he needs to captain well and show India no quarter.......if we give them any chances at all they are quite capable of taking their first innings deep into the 4th day and safety.

Were they sanctioned by anyone other than ZC though? It's not really a double standard for the ECB to not follow ZC's warped politicised stance.

I mean, it seems to me Ali can pretty easy hide behind humanitarian grounds rather than political grounds anyway. He hasn't said death to Israel

It was the ICC that sanctioned them as far as I recall, ZC made the complaint but ICC were the ones to inflict any punishment.
