***Official*** India in England 2014

50 for Cook. Should have been out ages ago, but he's done well to battle on and get to 50. Needs to make the most of it, and get a ton now though!

Never heard an England crowd give an England batsman such an ovation for reaching 50. Yes you get it for freak times like when Jimmy got his but that was huge for a specialist bat.

Cook looks dreadful

If he gets runs, it is going to be excruciatingly painful to watch
Plus ca change and all that.

Never a stylist, even when in prime nick, which he's obviously well short of just now.

May have been discussed but when was the last time we Didn't have someone born in the Republic of South Africa in the Test side?

I know we mentioned it during the Lankan ODIers, but who cares about limited overs.
Must've been 2004, before Strauss made his debut?

Andy was dropped once (for an SL tour, if memory serves) but pretty sure Prior was keeping then. Badly, IIRC. Seemed to have a personal vendetta against Sidearse. Musta shelled half a dozen chances off him.

Lead to Tiny Tim Ambrose getting his go, I believe.

India haven't bowled badly. They have generally put the ball in good areas, found some life off the pitch, and have stuck to their task. They've been a bit inconsistent I suppose, and dropped Cook, but not horrible bowling. Robson Cook and Ballance are just the type of batsmen who bide their time and don't offer chances.

One of the most infuriating things in cricket, that.

No replays for game changing decisions like wickets, but a relatively trivial issue like three runs or four is worthy of half a fecking dozen...

KP would've been playing when we had Ambrose mind you.
