Rohit before Jadeja...funky.
Yeah two left handers.

I don't mind Rohit as a part-time offie; he reminds me a bit of Marcus North. I reckon he would've taken a couple of wickets in the second innings of the second Test if he was playing.

Dhoni is bit random at times.

Pews would approve of this move though. Or was that Dhawan's bowling he rates ?

Haha I beat you. :p

Don't mind the move.

I said during the second Test that I liked Dhawan's offies more than Vijay's, but both are gash really. There's something to Rohit's bowling as a part-timer.

Should bring back Pankaj for remaining overs round the wicket to Cook.

BK has looked the least threatening of the 3 bowlers so far on this pitch.

Well done Cook, bit of luck but much needed. Probably had more bad balls at him that session than in the entire ashes double header and the four tests this summer.

Hope he goes onto a big one, don't rate his captaincy and that won't change but he is a vital bat for us and we need him scoring runs again.

Since when is bringing an offie on when there's two left handers and no rough to speak of considered a funky, random move? Pretty bog standard Dhoni tbh.

But Cook's failed chasing seamers outside off, not offies on a first day pitch
Cook's not got to 30 this year before today though. Funnily enough he's been dismissed by an off spinner three times out of the last four occasions he's got to 40. The reason he's not got out to offies this year is the fact that he's got out before they've come on.

The infamous "when you're out of form, play India" story plays out again on a flat Southampton deck and weak bowling selection. Maybe Shikhar Dhawan can try for a place in the England side in this series itself?

Hopefully Rohit, playing in place of a bowler, will send down as many overs as Jadeja. I don't think I want Shami bowling any more than 17 overs on this pitch. Or Pankaj/Bucky.

Don't think this is all that flat to be honest. Its by no means a bad wicket to bat on but if you bowl well there is something in it.

May have been discussed but when was the last time we Didn't have someone born in the Republic of South Africa in the Test side?

I know we mentioned it during the Lankan ODIers, but who cares about limited overs.

Well it's at least got pace, it's one of those you wait and see both teams bat and bowl before you make a concrete judgement.

Pankaj starting really well. Good areas, moving the ball around. Looks like he could find a yard or two more pace as well if required.
