Could quite honestly see the England selectors getting Root to open or bringing back Carbs because you know that how's the management rolls.

If they move Root back to open I wouldn't know what to do with myself. Carbs back I could deal with, even though I don't think he has it, but ruining Root would be awful.

Shame Sidebottom retired from internationals would still be a handy bowler for us.

Like Hoggard, and recently Onions, I think the selectors leaving him out occurred at just around the right time. Just because someone gets county wickets doesn't mean they're the best option in the 5 day game.

Dilshan gone, looks like Surrey are toast now. Time to put up the shutters anyway, after briefly going at 6 an over. Bit of a shock even to have a likelihood of a result, Guildford is generally a bit of a road.
