Can't blame him there, raining the entire time, lost grip on the bat and played an innings which put us well ahead of the game.\

Be interesting to see how Anderson plays this

Not really, we're only really missing NcCullum, Guptill and maybe Mitch.
We played Sodhi, Williamson, Boult, Watling, Latham - 5 players who very rarely make the top #11. But OK, I guess when near half the team is made up of test specialists and a vacationer (Sodhi) - we were playing our best line up.

Hmm yeah but the replacements weren't even the blokes who'd usually be the replacements for those guys. It's not just that you had players out; you had strange players in.

Southee looks like he's figuring out death bowling in limited over games.. something NZ have had a problem with.
Southee's been a good death bowler for a long time - barring the odd game where he gets things wrong.

His best death bowling coincided with his worst test bowling period.

Got to love mysky. Thought being a bowler short would cost us, but credit to Bond, McCullum and Hesson, really good bowling plans throughout. That slower ball yorker from Timmeh was Cairnsesque.

All better batsman then regular 20/20 player Ross Taylor though right?

Really struggle to see how Williamson deserves a place in the T20 side outside the SC/WI. We desperately need Ryder back in the T20 side, discipline problems be damned he is just too good not be there. This would allow us to potentially drop Guptill down to 5-6 to play the finishers role he would excel at. We all know he struggles with strike rotation against the new ball early and pokes around the off stump, but can murder the ball to all parts of the ground. From this game alone Neesh has shown that he get straights down to business and i would say he's just as likely to cop a good ball early on as Guptill. Lets just see how the opening experiment goes, he could get a first baller next game and get dropped back down the order permanently but I'm picking him to be successful

Munro is another one who demands to be picked. With his slogs and reverse slogs he has two areas of the ground where you would pick him to beat the men on the boundary nine times out of ten. Anderson, maybe Guptill and maybe Neesh are the only ones better at clearing the fence. So there really is no place for KW in the side, except as injury cover. If Ryder doesn't get a recall, then Latham would be a preferable option to KW, maybe not quite as good at rotating the strike, but shots of both feet = more 6s.

Also think Boult is going to be a really good T20 bowler sooner rather than later. He just seems to lack the confidence to use his yorker, when he's probably the best exponent of it in the country. He's only played 32 games in the format ffs, compare that to Southee's 93.

Ryder/Guptill
Neesham
McCullum
Taylor
Anderson
Guptill/Munro
Ronchi
N McCullum
Southee
Seamer of Choice
Boult

Would rate all of Henry, McClenaghan, Milne & Mills at least as good if not better T20 options than Boult. Also, disagree about Williamson's value outside WI/SC. The T20 team needs his kind of style and approach amongst the big strikers such as Neesham, Anderson, McCullum, Taylor & Ronchi etc. Provides good balance to the lineup and means Kane can play the anchor on more difficult wickets. One thing about Williamson is he can rotate the strike, so would unlikely get Guptill-itis.

Totally agree that Williamson would be valuable on more difficult wickets. The problem is the par wicket these days is a road where 180+ plays 180+. Its 20 overs, theres no room for accumulating at 100-120 when it means the McCullums and Taylors are facing less balls. Chuck in a few sighter balls early on and if the opposition bowls well you're suddenly in the position where one of your batsmen is playing at less than a run a ball, except unlike Simmons he doesn't hit 6s.

MClenaghan and Mills are both very average T20 bowlers by international standards (Mills would be my seamer of choice btw). Both are dangerous early on but then so is Boult. Both tend to suck when the batsmen are going after them, as does Boult but Boult is better than both at hitting the blockhole. At the moment i would have Mills ahead of Boult because he's a smarter bowler and has a couple of slower balls at his disposal, but they are at opposite ends of their careers; Boult is only going to get better while Mills has a year left to his career.
I rate Henry as the 2nd best bowler in the country so yeah would love to have him in the side too, i just think he needs some experience in ODI's before getting thrown into the T20 side.
Milne is crap at T20's, doesn't have the experience or the skill to avoid being taken too by classy batsmen, remember Milne v Ryder?
