I too laid Giraldo but he deserved to be favourite. Just not such a big favourite.

Laid Stanislas and Dimitrov too  Ya never know so early in the French when short-priced favourites are playing decent players who are capable on their day.
Laid Almagro but the bloke retired in the first set so no pay-out. Damn you Nico!

That Mahoud(sp?) press conference is one of the funnier things I've heard in a long time..

Questions in English please

"Firstly, congratulations"

"Congratulations? I lost"

"You lost? So how was it out there?"

"Did you watch the match?"

"No, sorry I didn't. I was told you'd won".

Mahut, yeah haha. I love how he asked him if he was serious, and then just cracked it and said "questions in French please".

Honestly its why sports nerds on websites and blogs rag on the general sporting media landscape a lot. Yeah sure these guys haven't played at the top level but they actually watch what is going on and follow it. Too many generalist sporting journos around just talking rubbish and are getting paid to watch sport, but don't even watch it. So frustrating.

Like why is Malcolm Conn commenting on AFL? Why is Rohan Connolly writing about cricket for Fairfax? Its not your bloody area of expertise.

Conn's a mad Tiger man, isn't he? Rohan loves his cricket. Don't really see the big deal if it's just match reports.

I'm sure the bloke who asked Mahut a question watches tennis at some point too.

We aren't short of cricket journos, we don't need Rohan Connolly writing match reports whilst being a cheerleader on Twitter. He throws a tantrum over a decision going against Australia on Twitter like a fanboy but then writes match reports for Fairfax? I know Fairfax are low on money but they're not that pov.

Understand why you get Darcy to host netball coverage, or Russell Barwick is hosting ESPN coverage of poker. But for major sports its lazy sports journalism to send people who know bugger all about what they are talking about. And eventually someone is going to get caught out ala Mahut presser.
