Really hope he bowls as many overs up front as his body will allow. Gets absolutely pasted at the death.
Yeah, noticed that in his ODI figures to date - looks like he bowls length and relies on a bit of movement, and doesn't have the pace to prevent the batsmen from premeditating and getting after him at the end.

When they did it every ball and you couldn't really see what the ball was doing it was frustrating, it is good occasionally though.

Tharanga looking typically insecure outside off, will be interested to see when the coms stop calling him 'Perera' though, Thirimanne looks solid, good signs
Yeah well, he has nothing on his back and SL told them the wrong bloke was opening :p

Yeah, I remember against Pakistan at home he bowled some absolutely awesome spells up front and then still ended up going for 60 just because his end spell went for > 10rpo.

It's not so much just the pace that's the problem (he bowls about as fast as Bhuvi who's become a really decent international death bowler) but the fact he doesn't have much control when it comes to changing his length or bowling variations. Like a really exaggerated Kyle Mills.

Sorensen is bowling some absolute crap here.

The commentary is unintentionally hilarious though - every ball is either "and another good ball by bowler X" or "that was a poor ball by bowler X". And apparently Tharanga's 172nd ODI cap is a particularly special achievement.

I guess the problem is that none of their bowlers, from what I know of them, seem suited to the death.

Oh man, Murtagh off. Should be bowling 6 or 7 straight and the rest in the middle overs.

Cusack used to be. When he first came into the side he'd sometimes exclusively bowl at the death. His death bowling has really tapered off in general lately for whatever reason though.

Kevin O'Brien has a good yorker and he often gets used at the death for that reason but because he bowls 120 flat out there's so, so little room for error.

I would, but it involves a tri-series with NZ A, I figure the kiwis here will probably get up for that one and post their own thread where they can **** all over Anton Devcich all day or whatever they do in those threads.

Well, that was a great call. Taste. Cusack just looks so unthreatening though - dismissal out of frustration more than anything else, I guess.

Hoping Chandiguns makes runs in an Ireland win here.

Thompson's been pretty good here. Haven't seen much of his bowling before (seems to be used by Ireland as a specialist slogger more than anything) and he has a reputation as someone who sprays it around and takes really jammy wickets but he's bowled well here.

important to occupy the crease and maintain patience for now, the death is crucial and they need all the wickets in hand they can afford
