International Coach
Ben Foakes with runs, lots of hype around him (in nerdy cricket circles obviously) about time he delivers.

Should be good weather all-round tomorrow, so hopefully results for the deserving. If Joyce carries his bat, I onder if a different opener has done it for the same side in a match? Long time to go though.

Cook
Robson
Moeen
Bell
Root
Morgan Ballance
Prior
Stokes (if fit)
Jordan
Broad
Anderson

Was the team I posted a few weeks ago that I thought England would go for, apart from Stokes Broad and Prior and Morgan all in form, yet it's clear now that Ballance will bat and the order will be re-jigged. I wouldn't be surprise if Moores plays Kerrigan, and everyone moves up the order though.

Anyway I was worried these matches would all be rained off, and the auditions would all be rather soggy, but there's no doubt people have had their chances, and a number of then have grasped them.

I mentioned Kerrigan getting picked in the Moores thread. Wouldn't surprise me at all. The convention is always to pick a frontline spinner, and Moores will have seen as much of Kerrigan's good stuff as probably anyone, and the wickets he's picked up already this year certainly won't hurt his cause. I'd rather he was picked than Monty. He had a shocker against Australia (though he did only bowl 8 overs), but I'd like to see him given another go, and given a proper run. I know it's an overused, and miserable comparison, but Warne went for 1/150 in his first Test match. Our spinning options are looking pretty abject atm though when you think Kerrigan, Panesar, Borthwick and part-timers are our best options.

I'd go with:

Cook
Robson
Bell
Root
Ballance
Stokes (if fit, if not, Moeen)
Prior
Broad
Anderson
Mills
Kerrigan

Robson has to play, as does Ballance. Prior's probably our best option behind the stumps, though I wouldn't be against Jos Buttler being given a go. Then with the bowling I'd go with the raw pace of Tymal Mills, and I'd give Kerrigan a go. Tough on Jordan, but we need some fresh blood and excitement in the side, and Tymal Mills certainly brings that.

David Masters is such a hero. He's 36, still running in hard and leading the Essex attack. Now has 584 FC wickets at 25, and he seems to be getting better with age. Not averaged above 25 since 2009, and not averaged above 30 since 2006. Took 93 poles at 18 in 2011, 53 at 17 in 2012, 51 at 23 last season, and already has 16 at 15 this season. The guy just doesn't stop. Love the fact him and Glen Chapple are still going strong and dominating county batting line-ups.

Middlesex chase down 472 and nothing is said in the thread for hours. Can tell you're all Yorkshire fans.

lol @ yorkshire.

I was there on Monday and when Middlesex batted first up under cloud cover the ball was hooping all over the shop, as soon as the sun came out in the afternoon the Yorkshire batters looked at ease. Love early season championship games.

Commentators on the essex glos game weren't exactly complimentary on Panesar when I was listening earlier. Mills meant to have bowled well.

Early days but really looks ominous for Northants doesn't it?

Need to find another team worse than us now to enable us to stay up
