Not to be a broken record but I personally believe that the holders spot in the CL should be a free one, and whichever country they are from get an extra place regardless of where they have finished in the league.

Both Uppercut and Sledger at the very least suggested it. I mean I agree with the point of view that the English media just praise him whatever he does and that actually a lot of the time he is pretty poor. I just think that he is still the best that England have and that not taking him is far too far. He is a good player, just not world class.

I only suggested not picking him if the criteria for selection was his performance today tbf. He should definitely go, but I don't think he should be an immediate starter. When he's bad (like he was today), he's really bad, and we've seen him deliver those sorts of performances for England several times across the last few tournaments.

Annoyingly probably the best example I can think of as to how all fans are the same is United fans. For 20 years we have laughed at how Liverpool fans were stuck in the past (tbf they were), but as soon as the boot is on the other foot, our fans (apparently without irony) have become so similar to that that to me it almost seems like a parody.

It's okay, they probably won't be Utd fans much longer.

United are going to miss out on Europe altogether, aren't they?

Easily Moyes' greatest achievement.

People seem to have forgotten that Man Utd won the ****ing league last season, Moyes seems to have convinced everyone that Ferguson left him a pile of ****e that would be fortunate to avoid relegation. Moyes inherited a (admittedly flawed) squad that absolutely strolled the league last season, lost it on goal difference the season before, and skooshed the league the season before that. So Moyes apparently deseerves more time because...

I mean, I'd extend his contract right now if I could, watching United fail is far too funny. But it honestly boggles my mind that Moyes a) hasn't been sacked and b) actually has people willing to give him time.

He's taken last season's champions and they're on course to finish 7th. How has he not been sacked?

Hernandez is actually very poor at running in behind. He doesn't have the right kind of pace. Good reactions and acceleration but no strength like Ronaldo or agility like Messi. Defenders just step in front of him and take the ball every time.

Welbeck even has a better goalscoring record this year to go with his infinitely better all-round game. He's definitely the one you want.

I really don't think Moyes will go. There's an assumption that he will, most notably amongst pessimistic fans of other clubs, but none of the noises coming out of the club suggest that it's a possibility.

The idea at this stage last season, that United would finish 2nd would be seen as a disappointing season, with 3rd or 4th probably being the limit of how bad they could imagine things getting. To not qualify for the CL, and in fact, likely miss out on the Europa as well, is just unbelievable, and as no one seriously contemplated it happening they don't really know how to react. The media are rightly giving Rodgers the plaudits for taking Liverpool form 7th to 1st, but what about the guy who did the opposite. They're always mentioning he's under pressure, but none of the media I've read have really laid into him, and pundits always seem to be coming up with excuses.

I feel like media have even been giving the likes of Tottenham, who came 5th last year and lost their best player, more stick. United retained all their squad and have spent over £70m. It's pathetic.

Yeah, I agree with the above two posts (Edit: Uppercut/GIMH). I don't get the impression he will go at the end of the season. If the board etc... really were not satisfied with him and saw no prospect of future success I suspect they'd pull the trigger asap, as there's literally nothing to play for this season now, and start looking for a replacement before the start of the summer.

This is great news, as I can't wait to see what Moyes spends loads of money on next.

The press etc... has always had a relatively good relationship with Moyes. Maybe they don't want to flog him whilst he's down. It's about the only thing I can think of which would explain it.

Thing about this summer is there aren't many managerial openings. Last season Martinez, Pep and Mourinho were available. They really ****ed it up when appointing Moyes as that was the chance to get someone better in.
