The Best of Each Decade Birthday DRAFT

Admittedly more luck than judgement - Lindsay Hassett (born 1913) to bat at No.5.

Not in esctasy over that batting lineup, but it's certainly more than capable of scoring sufficient runs to allow Adcock, Steyn, and Hadlee to blow the opposition away. Also Happy with the Mailey-Healy combo which I reckon is pretty good, especially with Hayden and Chappell around the bat.

01. Matthew Hayden
02. Stewie Dempster
03. Neil Harvey
04. Greg Chappell
05. Lindsay Hassett

Don't think Bishop is an gamble. He was a brilliant bowler when fully fit. If he hadn't suffered from those injuries, he could have been as good as some of the other West Indian great fast bowlers like Walsh or Sir Wes Hall.
Don't think that you can complain too much about Lillee-Hall-Bishop-Laker-Jackson as an attack Kyear. Not bad.
Don't get me wrong, I love Ian Bishop. At one point before the injury he was potentially a better bowler than Sir Curtly. I just took a gamble with not selecting a "specialist" keeper though I think A.B will do a very credible job.

Just OHNO to pick before Round 11 is revealed.

I think that Donald-Pollock-Davidson-Peel-Hammond should get a mention too.

Peel bowled slow left-arm orthodox didn't he Blakus? Without looking it up I think he sits between Peate and Rhodes in the pantheon of great Yorkshire left-armers.

Good to see you again KK! :D Yes, it's been a long but enjoyable haul with, as it turns out, a deal of homework for everyone. So well done everyone!!

Incidently, your attack from Season 1 has Dale Steyn and Neil Adcock in it. Nice fiery South African combo I reckon :)
Work is keeping me busy but I am itching to play another draft here so trying to be regular again.

About my Seasonal draft teams, Season 3 was the best effort but sadly people didnt like that team :P

Tough luck to those at the bottom in round 11. This one always hurts most because round 12 being a mere formality doesn't compensate for it. This is why I think a good practice may be to have round 11 as reverse of round 1, which also has much larger disadvantage for those at the bottom.

FOREVER BOTTOM!
Yes, but you have an uncontested 1950s to make you feel better (unless I'm mistaken which is quite possible). If I were you I'd feel like a kid in a candy shop. And the 1920s almost stands alone!

Well done hanging on to those two decades.

Yeah fair point Ankitj. But this Draft is a little bit different because some decades stand alone uncontested, or with only a few people contesting them. I would be interested to hear how many are adversely effected by the order of Round 11 when we're all done and dusted. Hopefully few or none.

The thing about Draft orders though it that you can't please all of the people all of the time. That is a simple impossibility. Someone must get a raw deal from time to time as that's the nature of the beast. Like life, it can never be completely fair by definition.

Ideally, in thee drafts I have played elsewhere, we usually have one fixed order throughout the draft. However, in the few drafts I have played here in Cweb, the orders are randomized after every two rounds. It can be a disadvantage sometimes but at the same time, it certainly adds to the fun.

Luck of the draw adds to the entertainment and tactics imo, much like why we have the toss of a coin at the start of every Test rather than take it in turns
