Ah JimmyGS. Always using his cricket-watching experience to get ahead of the game.February 20 2014 11:48 AM
Hi Jimmy. Do I remember correctly you won the 2008 national schoolboy speed gun challenge by bowling a beamer in the final at the Basin?

Yep that is correct. The ball almost went over the back of the nets into the crowd. It was pretty fortunate actually because it may have killed an old lady who was seated there. 6 years later and I was out there playing for NZ, who would've thought?
Could Neesham possibly replace Anderson at number 6? or Watling at 6 and Neesham at 7? Thats if Andersons form warranted him being dropped or he was injured.Barring injury, the only way Neesh will play against the Windies is if they decide he's a better bowler than Wagner, and that's just not happening.
We do need a spinner in the West Indies and I don't mind the Sodhi selection. If he continues to fail spectacularly, fine, drop him. You have to give him a proper run though, and a proper run doesn't include playing India on green NZ wickets.
He did reasonably well in Bangladesh (readoorly but showed enough potential) so there are plenty of reasons to think he'll continue improving in WI.
disagree completely.on the evidence of the wellington test Neesham looks a far better batsman technically than Anderson.
Neesham is a very technically correct striker - Anderson isn't. Anderson however has one hell of an eye, great timing and a lot more strength. I'd say Anderson would be the one more likely to turn into an actual batsman at some point with those raw assets.disagree completely.
also, there's no chance that tonight hendrix is responsible for another ****ing child thank ****ing christ. jesus guys, wear condoms and ****.

Neesham doesn't have the off days that Corey has with landing it and getting the radar right. A lot of the reason people find Neesham hard to face is that he gets good lift off the wicket and bowls in the late 130s.lol, "turn into a actual batsman"
Also am I the only one that doesn't really rate Neesham's bowling that highly? Aside from his pace I really don't think he has much going for him. With Anderson at least you know he'll get the ball to move about.
I think Anderson is pretty well aware of where his weakness lie in that he's pretty much shelved his offside game, especially driving in test cricket. I'm sure he's working on the cover drives and cuts but it's probably fair to say he's currently a more limited batsman than Neesham, at least at the test level.Neesham is a very technically correct striker - Anderson isn't. Neesham is a better bowler obvs, I just don't really rate it. He's mid 130's and doesn't really do anything with the ball. People may indeed say he's hard to face but when you're bowling every fourth ball into the pads your not exactly going to build up the pressure either. As I said earlier at least Anderson moves the ball in the air, even if he's 5k's slower. If he wasn't so injury prone he would've made one hell of a bowler IMO (as a batting all rounder anyway) As it is he'll probably never realise that potential but even now he's doing a bloody good job. And I still think he has room for improvement with it too, I mean this is pretty much his first full season of bowling ever.Neesham doesn't have the off days that Corey has with landing it and getting the radar right. Anderson in five years will probably bowl about the same amount of overs as Williamson in tests.

Nah I agree. Neesham has a lot more potential to be a proper frontline bowler if that's the road he wants to go down than Anderson for numerous reasons but at this point in time I don't think he's particualrly close to being good enough for that. Anderson's quite good at his role as the fifth bowler; moreso than Neesham would be in that role for mine. He can keep it tight and he can challenge good batsmen from time to time with his movement. Also am I the only one that doesn't really rate Neesham's bowling that highly? Not sure that's correct. Jimmy probably doesn't spray line as much but he showed in the ODIs he still struggles to find a length. Still a superior bowler to Corey, no doubt as when he does find a length it's hit hard and at a good clip. As I said in an earlier post, if he plays as a fourth seamer it'll be in seamer-friendly conditions (probably) and he'll be very effective. Over time he'll learn to bowl consistently to better players, and be a major asset.Neesham doesn't have the off days that Corey has with landing it and getting the radar right.
