The thing is if he hadn't giving the first one that would have been more understandable, as Suarez did make a meal of that one. Yet I don't think he actually did with the OX challenge, think it would have comprehensibly floored anyone.

Just rank bad.

Yeah, one suspects that had Suarez actually tripped over Chamberlain and fell forwards into the box, instead of bouncing off him back in the direction he had come from, he would have given it. Not that this in any way makes the decision not to award the pen excusable, but I suspect this might have been what went through Webb's mind.

As much as he's a whinging tit, Rodgers and Liverpool should be sticking in a formal complaint. It's not as if Webb can come out and say 'my view was blocked' or 'I didn't quite see the incident' - he had a perfect view, saw Ox bring Suarez down and for reasons best known to him, ignored it.
The way Webb dismisses it is just sickening as well. That finger wag will haunt my dreams.

Reckon he bottled this one too:

I think Rogers has made himself look like a bit of a berk, and thereby taken some pressure off Webb, by way of his reaction to the whole thing tbh. The fact that he's had a moan about the failure to award a penalty, but then said "yeah, good decision, he was totally right not to send Gerrard off" doesn't exactly make him look like he's taken a balanced approach to all this. Talk about having your cake and eating it. Berk.

Sort of thing pretty much every manager does though.
I think most tend to be slightly coy about it though, or at least choose their words more carefully. I'd usually expect a comment along the lines of "yeah, it was a 50/50 one/I didn't see it/need to see the replay". But outright denial of this sort is pretty Mourinho-like. I don't think you can expect a lot of sympathy when you so brazenly make statements which are manifestly false.

Thing is I've heard him being praised for this, because he was dismissive of sterling. Very odd.
Football is a bit weird. Imagine if a player touched, albeit relatively gently, an umpire in a cricket or tennis match as a sign of frustration and displeasure. Didn't even get a yellow.

Honestly it really wasn't that gentle either. It would be one thing (I guess) if he just put his hand on him while they were talking or something, but it was pretty aggressive even if it wasn't exactly like he punched him or anything. Like I said at the time, should really be a straight red every time. Touching the referee should be completely out of line, the way it is in basically every other sport in the world.

I've seen people supporting the decision on the grounds that Sterling is young, which is just silly. You wouldn't give him a pass for lashing out at another player in frustration, so he shouldn't get one here either.
