bury them. india can do great things too. don't give them a chance.
Yeah this, India's batting lineup has it within them to chase down what we've made if we decide to declare over night or declare too quickly in the morning. Some people were saying there's some rain due over night which should freshen the pitch up. You never know, India could well pick up the last 4 wickets quickly and a run chase could well and truly be on if they get off to a good start.

Who would have thought NZ would have a day like this today. There's no reason why India can't have an amazing day tomorrow also.

Coming back to our discussions on Anderson/Neesham, it's as a lot of us were saying after the West Indies series. Pick your 4 best bowlers regardless of whether it includes a spinner or not. That's the situation here, and I hope we continue without a spinner for the West Indies tour.

Nah look its obviously not impossible for this to happen but India's body language was really bad in that last hour. They're dead, and they want on the plane. Doubt they have the fight left to skittle NZ and then have 80 overs to chase whatever they need to.

I honestly don't even know if they will have the fight to bat out the draw. They should, because that pitch is obviously flat. But I dunno, gut feeling.
Yeah it looks really bad. And if we lose a wicket early, these kids could panic. The flatness of the pitch won't matter if they're not thinking straight

I think Baz was still in a daze (or trolling) when he said he's considering declaring overnight. I'd bet a ridiculous amount of money that he doesn't do that. Not only are they 1-0 up, but he's also near a triple. .
Always think it is hard for captains in this situation when they are at the crease approaching such a milestone. I think there is a lot of pressure on them to call it quits earlier than they should or would compared to if it was a team member approaching the same score. As utter rot as it is if he bats on and gets the score and the game ends a draw Baz will cop **** from some sectors for playing for himself and not the team.

Reckon Clarkeh declared too early on his 329* and I always wonder if he did it to win over some of his (at the time) many doubters.......Lara's record was gone that day if he'd have wanted it.

If India bowl us out and pull off a miraculous chase, they'll deserve the victory.

But if NZ declare for less than a 400 run lead and India chase it down, I'll be more than a little peeved.

Ditto body language. Yea I don't see it. NZ can also slow things down if India remotely look like they're getting close. With that said, they're 1-0 up, so it makes sense that they don't want to take any chances.

Why is Dhoni avoiding press conferences by sending out guys like Sharma and Dhawan?
The management wants to avoid him being questioned by the journalists about the recent developments in the IPL spot fixing investigation (read the IPL spot fixing thread about why this pertains specifically to Dhoni). Dhawan was sent out once and when the question was posed to him instead, the team manager advised him to not answer and declared the press conference over.

Also that is McCullum six off Jadeja near the end of the day came right near me. I did not pick it up at all and am incredibly thankful it didn't come straight to me as it would have no doubt sconned me and I'd have looked like a ****ing **** live on TV. Instead that bloke with the Boston Celtics top, who also picked it up late, looked the fool.

Phew.
Haha the commentators completely laid into him for "cowering on the ground" as well.

That's him lying on the ground there. I am obviously in the red circle. I was looking there as that is when I saw the ball thud into the turf.

If New Zealand can bat 15 or so overs and set India around 400, I think there's a decent chance that India might implode on day 5. It'll be very hard going have to bat at 2 and 1/2 sessions knowing you have no real chance of winning. Throw in the fact that India will be exhausted and demoralised and New Zealand's bowlers will be refreshed and hungry and I could definitely see New Zealand grabbing 10 wickets in 70 overs especially if there's a bit of cloud cover and a couple of rain interruptions.

First class triple tons by NZers:

385 Bert Sutcliffe Otago v Canterbury at Christchurch 1952/53
355 Bert Sutcliffe Otago v Auckland at Dunedin 1949/50
338* Roger Blunt Otago v Canterbury at Christchurch 1931/32
317 Ken Rutherford New Zealand v D.B.Close XI at Scarborough 1986
306 Mark Richardson New Zealand v Zimbabwe A at Kwekwe 2000/01
301 Peter Fulton Canterbury v Auckland at Christchurch 2002/2003

One of these things is not like the others

Anyone got a link to any decent highlights from play today?

Like a lot of others, didn't manage to catch a single ball with it being a working day. Not that I got much work done today anyway in listening to Radio Sport, watching CricInfo, and posting and viewing this thread :D
Type India v New Zealand into the youtube search bar, and restrict your search to today (or maybe the last week). There's a guy called Seven3Sports I think who's uploaded highlights of every day.

Anyone who was following odds live - what was the draw and an Indian win paying when Watling was out LBW?
I think it was about $2.10 for the draw and $2.50 for the India win (back from about $4.50 before the dismissal) on the TAB.

If I'd had the time and inclination, I'd have taken Dan, KiWiNiNjA and Jono to one of the local pubs after the result of this day's play.

The Tasting Room.
Now Heef, I know you have good taste, so why would you take our guests there and not to the Malthouse, which is just down the road?

I did see 16tos though, who casually rocked up after lunch to catch some history.
And I'll be there first thing in the morning too. I knew I'd never regret taking February off, but I'm really winning here :D
