In what world does turning purple trying to argue against a selection, only for that selection to occur and result in a brilliant hundred in the toughest environment (sent in to bat, in trouble, seaming pitch, against best attack in the world) not constitute a taste? It's madness.

It's honestly up there with the famous Spikey taste.

nah but this is different cause no one is arguing that smarsh doesn't have this type of innings in him, it's his ability to do it consistently that he's been called out on and un till he does no one is tasting.

Somewhat agree. I don't think anyone would have denied that Marsh had the technique and ability to play an innings like this against bowling of this quality; the criticisms of him are based around how rarely he bothers. The real test will be in his consistency.

That said, tasting doesn't really work like that. You bag someone's selection and then they perform, you cop it for a little bit, even if you end up ultimately right. It's developed a life of its own.

If person A specifically said something along the lines of what dermo said then the tasting is on hold imo. There are definitely people I can recall who only said it was a rubbish selection with no further input. Those are the ones who should be tasting hard.
