Fletcher injured for ND there, a club keeper comes in -
Our man Howsie wants to talk about depth...he'll want to ignore ND's keeping stocks. Below BJ, they have an ex-Auckland keeper who admittedly has promise, and now they've picked a guy (Rory) who was about 8th choice in the province before he moved. Before that, they had an English plodder in Adam Wheater, another import in Pete McFashion..and if we want to get really funky we can say BJ is a Japie. Any danger of developing a gloveman in a catchment area that runs from Cape Reinga to Taupo? Just one?

dont forget they had no allrounders or spinners so they imported anderson and sodhi.

werent they scouting an unnamed wellingtonian after they got concerned anderson would spend too much time with the national side? howsie being saddled with franklin or woodcock would have been the best thing ever.

I wonder what has happened with Soper this morning? Opened, one over (maiden) and then off?

Small is still hanging on for the moment as well.
Not sure what to make of Small, aside from the injury issues that have prevented him from playing so frequently. When I first saw video of him I thought he was very similar to Bracewell, with an easy, strong side-on action and natural outswing. It's changed now and is a decidedly more mixed action (and possibly more injury risk), but he's still getting some movement and getting results. Doesn't have the obvious natural attributes of some of the others around i.e. height, pace, big swing so I'm not sure which direction his bowling will go in.

he was bowling high 130s/low 140s at 17 in the under 19 world cup ftr, so is probably a tad quicker now. is/was similar to dougeh though but with more bite imo and a lot less random spraying crap as well so far.

Lance Cairns rated him as the second fastest bowler in the country a few years ago. Reckon his injury problems have slowed him down a bit, but I think he has the potential to bowl at Gillespie's pace if he can ever stay fit for a period of time.

They would've picked the young Martin Crowe who tormented Wellalbidarned and other Hamilton schoolchildren to keep today, obvs. Seifert now in the UAE.

Best Auckland seamer for winkling out specialist bats and keeping them tied down, Munners. Statistically proven by Kippax.

wtf at that auckland bowling line up. its like 70s india - bowling the mediums until the spinners come on.

CdG and Munro are handy bowlers but they're not a 3rd and 4th seamer duo.

Or they're preparing a deal for Manu, given they heard a rumour Hesson wants him as a gloveman.

Not forgetting as well they pilfered Parore, one of Hopkins' many stops was there, etc. Only gloveman they've produced of any note (conveniently ignoring Robbie Hart) is Barry Young, and he eventually moved to slip/Auckland.

English plodder. What rot! Adam Wheater is a legend.

Wilson is having a bit of a nightmare summer isn't he? I can see Carter moving up and Hickey slotting in to a reshuffled middle order soon if he can't make a score.

Or they'll just pick Devcich I guess.

edit: ND dropping one of their most successful pacers for Baker is itstl.

They still speak in exalted tones in the Tron about the Wheat Man's average of 16 in ND colours. Hell, if he was a local he might've pinched an NZ A berth
Hahaha. Touche.

Was more his time at Essex that I remember him fondly for, but him failing for ND is hardly going to lower him in my estimation. ;)
