Think Marsh is seen by his peers as probably the most talented player of his age (unless you include Clarke). With a settled side around him, the selectors could see it as the time to play him and let him have a crack at it with the other 6 members of the batting feeling very confident about their spot, that the environment now is right for them to get the most out of the most unfulfilled talent over the last ten years.

attack his pads imo
Billy's going on the tour yeah? If so no chance.

All this how good is Boof is a bit ott. I thought he'd go better than whasisname he replaced, but some of the stuff selection wise etc in England was balls.

McDermott for me is the talisman. He gets hold of our bowlers and they start bowling smarter and we start winning. He ****s off and we go back to bowling short pus sprayin it around and get beaten. He comes back and we're back to bowling as a pack. Oversimplification I know, but the thrust holds true. I reckon we're a 5 wicket per match better unit with him there than not. Give the **** an AO.

We have all played with unfulfilled talents - the best player I have ever seen could play all of his contemporaries off the park and everyone knew it

If a perennial under-achiever like Marsh can potentially flourish in this environment, imagine what other better-equipped players might do

Hopefully neither plays a game and are punted for the UAE tour as a result of Faulkner/Haddin/shield form of guys at home

Yeah when the boy in my avatar tears apart this series you be tastin'
Hope he makes runs itbt. And never said he wouldn't, in fact I said it's likely he will make runs. So if anyone be tastin' it's you.
Wait, didn't you suggest that this might be his last series?
I said it could be his last series if somehow the Australians find a way to consistently get him out in the same way.
Oh right. Carry on
Nah nah, don't be silly Spark:

Calls like this have no risk.

If he plays on after this series, or in fact does well, no one will mention this as it was a "big call" which he only said is "possible" so getting it wrong is not a big deal.

If he retires or is dropped Benchy gets all the glory.

Cunning stuff from Benchy. Well played.
Benchy knows what he's doing here.

Nah I'm not attacking Benchy, I am praising what he's doing. Its the perfect strategy.
