It's hardly surprising Keys got punted off to radio with the advent of HD TV, the hairy handed ****.
I just got sick to the back teeth of him to be honest. The whole casual ***ism thing was obviously dire, but I couldn't bear how smug he and Andy Gray had become. It's like they thought of themselves as the patriarchs of football or something. It was like they thought they had carved out their own old boy's club in the studio and could do whatever they wanted.

The two of them being axed is one of the best things that has happened to football in recent years. Ed Chamberlain and Gary Neville just so much better. Even Ben Shepherd is a better football anchor ffs.

Have to say Carra's good value too; verbal sparring between him and Comrade Gary is entertaining and mostly has relation to what they're watching. See things in different ways (like the Arse non-pen versus yer Chavs) and both have enough about them to justify their opinions.

Carra needs elocution lessons tho, obvz.

My prospective brother in law has worked with Keys and Gray - there's obviously a bit of professional jealousy involved but he reckons they are both ****s of the highest order

Yeah they are both very good. I know Carragher's accent upsets people but he speaks the game very well. And Gary Neville has transformed himself from hugely dislikeable **** to fantastic and likeable pundit.

They seemed to think they could do what they wanted when they wanted and were untouchable. How wrong they were. So much better now without them.

They were both great in their day but Sky haven't missed them at all. And I think it's telling that both ESPN and BT Sport have steered well clear of them.

Deserved the Big Ron treatment, if not worse tbh. He used an offensive word indicative of a horrible attitude from a bygone era. They actually displayed prejudice, out and out. Sky did the right thing (though I think Keys technically went by his own volition)

Fine goal that, from Hazard

Edit - Re-reading that it sounds like in a bit sympathetic towards Big Ron - rest assured I am not

What I found worrying was that after the Atkinson racism and the Keys/Gray casual ***ism/uber clientishness entered the public domain was that folk came forward to say they'd always been like that. I think Ian Wright said BFRR was forever making unfunny racial put downs in his presence.

With slebs able to behave like that with seeming impunity it's no wonder we got the Saville et al situation. If household names don't speak up, what chance does Joe Nobody have?

I heard this too, from two separate sources who worked with them. Was amazing how many people came out against them after the Massey incident.

Ron's misdemeanour was definitely worse, but tbf plenty came out defending him as a person afterwards. With Keys and Gray there was a unanimous "yep, they're ****s".

Well it was fairly obvious when all the vids started to leak, that they weren't popular, the Massey incident, which looks all the more ridiculous as time goes by, was just the catalyst really, I think most at Sky didn't want to work with them anymore.

FTR I think Gray really was a brilliant pundit when he started, took on the technologies of the time, and was so different and gave very insights then we were used to. Yet as he got on, and he became further away from his playing days and more entrenched in the old ways he became painful. He's not alone but his hatred of the Zonal-marking system was just irritating.

Keys was just an anchorman, can't say I'm bothered either way.

Yeah it's better now without a doubt, re-energised in every way,

Just noticed Portsmouth are 1 point and goal difference ahead of 2nd bottom in League 2.

Am I right in saying that they've suffered consecutive relegations from the Premier League?

Think they spent a couple of years in the Champ before free fall

----
Edit: Yep, finished 16th in 10/11 in the champ, went down season after

Thanks FM!

Think the Wolfs went down from Div 1 to Div 4 in consecutive seasons in the early 80s.

Bristol City did it first. Gave a lot of youngsters ridiculously long contracts at mega-money (for then), and most of them turned out to be crap or just not bothered.

Top miss from Smalling, that.

Always hard to get the ball over the bar from three yards out with half the goal to aim at.

Should have won by more. Properly good performance that, unlike the jammy-bastard run over Christmas. Much, much better without the ball than we have been.

Reckon Moyes found his best available team in the second half once Kagawa moved into 10 with Januzaj out wide. Hernandez is such a blockage, and now Welbeck's scoring more goals too he has nothing going for him. Fletcher was excellent too, hasn't looked rusty at all.
