What they've done with Rankin was just an absolute circus. Have no idea what the thinking is in the English camp? Feel for the bloke... That's not how you want to start your career

Shades of England in the 1990s

Borthwick, Bairstow, Stokes...do a little bit of everything, but nothing well enough

Bit harsh on Stokes admittedly

Borthwick's plainly not a Test quality spinner, but I reckon there's quite a bit to work with. Could develop nicely into an all-rounder, IMO.

Decent enough action, and does something through the air. If he can put a bit more on it and get his accuracy right, he could cause problems. Very, very big ifs though.

Some early confidence calls on Borthwick. Let's see how his figures look by stumps before any of us get too carried away.

The most likely outcome is that he'll get smashed still, but he looks OK.

The hope is that he doesn't get his confidence damaged by the likely smashing and Cook not using him properly.

Love seeing Smith do well

He's got real chutzpah, and is a real little fighter

An Aussie battler, if you will

If Maddinson, Khawaja et al had his application, we'd have a couple of proper young bats going around

Would have loved to see your reaction to Shane Warne's first innings with the ball. Not saying Borthwick's anything like Warne at all, but you can't write off a bloke's career after 4 overs FFS.

Beating Warnie's strike rate, as we speak

Warne in his debut however, showed good accuracy and had a very serviceable stock ball

Did the secret society of leg spinners decide to not pitch the ****ing ball? First Tahir and now Borthwick with their full tosses.
