I figure if we bat long enough Rankin might get another 2 chances so Jimmy & Borthwick can complete those overs.

Think England just need to find a spinner who can bat and field extremely well, then they'll actually get to do something in the game.

Looks like Borthwick is in for a worse battering than poor old Kerrigan at the Oval. But it was widely predicted and so it has come to pass....

I actually think that's why Borthwick has been selected, because that's exactly what he's been touted for

Yeah, it's plainly a decision to allow themselves to pick Rankin over Bresnan without having an even weaker tail. Surely Kerrigan or even Craddock or someone would have been the choice if they wanted an actual spinner.
