To be fair, he's only played four overseas games so far and they've all been in Aus/SA, particularly difficult countries to bowl spin in.. I don't think we've seen anything to suggest he won't be a threat in Sri Lanka, UAE, West Indies, Bangladesh or even England if he bowls how he has in India. That's going to account for a pretty large majority of his Tests by the time he retires. It's going to be a hard slog on the NZ tour coming up if he gets picked, but that's true for any spinner unless the batsmen just can't read you or you're Warne.
England will be a big test for him if he gets picked. Its not been a bad place to bowl spin on as of late (could change with Swann's retirement, can see the pitches magically regaining grass and a bit of pace) and going head to head with Panesar will be interesting. That's obviously contingent on him getting picked.

You should not drop your spinner when he doesn't take one (LOL) wicket in his last two overseas test matches (Sydney and Joburg) :@
That is particularly concerning considering the fact that is probably easiest of all the venues in SA/AUS/NZ to take wickets as a spin bowler

Just to be clear here. If India's innings were over by now India would have LESS of a chance of winning this test, not more.
No Jono. From my angle, if India's innings were over by now, India will have more of a chance of either winning or losing this test, with losing more probable than winning. But right now, draw is the most probable knowing India and Dhoni in overseas conditions.

Yeah that's the big one for him. It's a pretty decent place to bowl spin at the moment, but it's generally more of an over-spin and drift affair. There's not quite enough turn in the wickets for the front on bowlers side spin who get it to do a bit each way like Narine, Mendis and Shillingford to be effective, but more traditional off spinners who rely less on break off the wicket are finding enough in it. Ashwin's a bit like Ajmal in that he's halfway between that and a traditional offie who gets the ball to drop and drift, and Ajmal has a decent record in England across three matches but it's nothing on his home record (plus he actually managed to take some wickets in South Africa..).

Haha of course India collapsing and already being all out would reduce the likelihood of the draw. But it would reduce the likelihood of an Indian win as well.

India's only chance of even coming close tow inning is 400-450 first innings score and then hoping the pitch deteriorates and Saffers do a lol collapse that they do every now and then.

Nathan Lyon only took one wicket in that match, wasn't a typical Sydney wicket, but yeah, it was pretty poor
