What prompted the shush up gestures?? I haven't heard the MJ song since very early in the Adelaide test.........he's had plenty of opportunity to say **** you to the BA since then, why now?

Have said before, I quite the BA whilst at the ground, but it does get a bit tedious at times when the "barmy army" chant goes on for 10 minutes 2/3 times a day quite loud 'n clear through the effects mic's in the televised broadcast though.

Not suggesting they abandon the team, but maybe give up on bagging a bloke who's tearing them a new one this series.


I don't really have an issue with any of their songs, except when they get into constant repetition of 'Barmy Army' which is as bad as 'Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi'. They add heaps to the atmosphere. But suggesting it's soft to have a go back after they've bagged you for 4 years is a bit silly.

Maybe it's a cultural difference. Footballers over here endure far more extreme taunts than anything the barmies have ever dished out. But when your own supporters are at the ground wearing 'Stuart Broad is a **** bloke' tshirts then perhaps it's worth taking for what it is.

The barmy army were largely silent for most of the day today. Hardly any chants at all. The first I heard them (from about 5 bays over) was about 3pm. I really didn't get why the Australians were trying to wind them up. Silly.

Yeah, I reckon that's a bit ordinary myself. Broads having a laugh about it on Twitter though, which is what you've got to do........if you take this **** seriously you probably need to find a new profession.

Absolutely dismal stuff. Get in, block, block, block, pat bad balls for a single, block, block etc. get out. They score at a pathetic run rate (particularly compared to Australia) and still manage many so many ****house dismissals. Bell is particularly irritating the way he plays so much within himself when he has all the shots that he should never really be tied down. But he just allows himself to be tied down and takes all the pressure off the bowlers.

Yeah look this isn't a patriotic thing. I don't think the way our guys behave is always admirable, but I get an impression of the Aussie cricket team being way too sensitive about certain things. I mean if it's true that the sprinkler dance caused offence then I don't know what to say.

You might be right too. To be honest though, it would get pretty annoying at times having to hear idiots on the boundary yell stuff at you all the time because they think their ticket buys them the right to carry on like a pork chop for 8 hours. I don't really put the BA in this category, as they seem to put a bit of thought into what they do generally, and it's normally in good humour. I do wonder if there was anything more to it than just singing the MJ song again. If that's all it was then I agree the timing of the reaction is rather strange.

I took issue with someone saying it's 'a bit soft' though, as if as a sportsperson you should just accept that you'll take crap from knobs in the crowd all day. Of course, if everyone reacted it would be carnage, but you can understand players getting sick of it at times.

I agree on KP. It seemed like 30 minutes after the 1st dropped catch commentators were talking up his application to the task etc etc, having seemingly forgotten the bloke should've been caught hooking...again.
