He looks like Optimus Prime physically. Has got himself into immense shape and is reaping the rewards.
It's like it's taken 4.5 years to actually become the bowler we thought he was going to be in 2009.

Yeah, and looking at the shape he is in could easily see him playing at this level for 3 more years minimum.

Australia's day yet again. Bowled very tight and great lines and then blew England away with the 2nd new ball. K.P batted well, although was given lives, on what is a decent pitch. Outfield makes scoring hard, but that doesn't excuse England's woeful lack of intent. Root blocking half volleys, Lyon not being challenged at all until his last over where Stokes showed that if you use your feet you could get rewarded. Anything around 350 would be a good score, but England will struggled to get 280.

It wasn't just Root though. Even Bell was patting back half volleys for a large part of his innings. The way he anything remotely loose in England was a big difference between the teams. The contrast in his play between then and now is monumental.

Yes agreed. KP even backed out of a couple of short balls from Lyon he could have smashed and just pushed it for a single. Seems like we start out from a very dour platform and when it goes wrong we retreat even further into that. What really pisses me off is how we can watch the partnership between Stokes/Bell at Perth and then one of the same players comes out and plays like that. Madness.

Don't put yourself down - a bit more of that sort of dedication from our batsmen and you might still feel the desire to still be drinking now

So I'm finally convinced that it's time for Andy Flower to step down after this series. Today's approach (which must have been some form of game plan) was just horrific to watch. Some tough questions really need to be asked of both Flower and Gooch because you just can't win test matches limping along like that on day 1.

You don't associate flamboyant cricket from England sides and I get that attrition has been a strength.......but FMD, that wasn't attritional cricket.....it was just dire.

All credit to the Aussie bowlers, they kept it tight and there were certainly no freebies, but there were scoring opportunities to be had.

Got me ****ed how you did it mate......I had trouble keeping my eyes open all day after 8 hours good sleep. Todays cricket must have been the equivalent of taking half a dozen mogadon and trying to stay awake.

I quite enjoyed the day's play tbf. I know I like bowling more than most, but it looked like an excellent display from Siddle (after he got over his early bout of bowling too straight) and Harris. Had a great view from where I was - front row of the top tier.

Melbourne puts on a great show for the cricket and it was great to be part of a world record crowd. Sadly the Contingent making the trip over the ditch weren't recognised for their contribution, small though it may have been. When the record was only broken by 300 odd, it all helps.

Yeah, should just abandon their team when things go wrong...

Anyhow. I've always been a firm advocate that you need to take seven wickets on day one if you win the toss and bowl. Therefore, survive the next seven minutes and it's our day
Not suggesting they abandon the team, but maybe give up on bagging a bloke who's tearing them a new one this series.

I don't really have an issue with any of their songs, except when they get into constant repetition of 'Barmy Army' which is as bad as 'Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi'. They add heaps to the atmosphere. But suggesting it's soft to have a go back after they've bagged you for 4 years is a bit silly.
