? We've already got one fast medium pie-chucker in the team, and he actually takes wickets. Why bother with another's?
a) Give him a run to see if he's improved since his last incarnation on the International stage. Unless Milne is bowling dross at the moment then his bowling > Neesham's bowling.
b) I Just think we've got enough batting without Neesham and I wonder if some of the batsman were a bit loose because they figured someone else would do the job. Corey certainly didn't seem keen on just batting out the overs.
c) You must admit he looked damned useful on the A tour footage.

If he's going to bat eight anyway then Neesham should only be selected in the role he's in if he's the best bowler available for selection. With Nathan McCullum, Mills and Corey Anderson in the side, the lower order does not need further strengthening at the expense of playing more than two legitimate bowlers. If the selectors are backing Neesham ahead of Milne on bowling alone then that's fine but I don't really think it's the case as such.

Wow - I'm buying a lotto ticket tomorrow. Don't think we have ever agreed on an interesting call before.

Yup, just saying that Rampaul and Holder are the best bowlers WI have in any form of the game.
For the longer version of the game i'd say they are 2nd and 3rd best obviously behind Roach

Although if Jerome Taylor gets anywhere near top form again then it's tough to seperate him and Roach.

Anyway great win today!!..well done to Sammy for bringing it home!!..i don't mind him in the limited overs teams at all..just not good enough at test level.

I'm Surprised we won with half our best side out though.i guess that bodes well for the future.

Next game i'd play Edwards in place of Deonarine..

Only 4 exclamation marks in that post WW, well contained.

And yeah, Roach, Rampaul and Holder would be my ideal attack, it gives you an out and out quick, a swing bowler and a tall seamer. Best can replace Roach, while Sammy can replace Holder or Rampaul in the case of an injury.

Lol you cheeky bugger!!

personally i wouldn't have Sammy back inthe fold...he's had four years to improve but he's only gone backwards. Interms of "swing" we have a Trinidad lad named Marlon Richards who made his first class debut last season and looked very good indeed. Whle Miguel Cummins also knows how to move the ball either side at good pace...i suspect both of those names will be in contention soon enough.

Down to two. Keep up the good work :p

There's probably a legitimate case to be made for Neesham as a bowler over Milne.

Mills is going to be such a huge loss when he retires next year. Yeah Southee is arguably as good an ODI bowler these days, but there's not a lot of other economical wicket taking LO bowlers floating around.

Wow, what a horrible batting performance from both sides. Enjoyed the bowling though, was great to see the ball zipping around and batsmen having their technique examined in an ODI.

Loved Bravo's interview afterwards. He and the rest of us all know it, we do have decent seamers who can move the ball, they just refused to select them and in the process robbed us fans of what could well have been a very closely fought test series.

Agree with WW, Narsingh out, the guy looks all over the place and we have enough bowling options without him. Incidentally, would loved to have seen Pollard in this match. His lofted straight drives would have gone for six every time. Not sure I like playing at a venue with the straight boundaries being so short tbh.

Very interesting article in the Trinidad Guardian today. Apparently Sammy injured Darren Bravo by deliberately bowling a beamer in the nets after Lil B had spoken out against the bowlers during a team meeting.

I don't usually read into these sort of dressing room gossip articles, but to me this makes complete sense. Darren Bravo was mysteriously injured just before the 3rd test and we were never given an explanation other than he was 'hit by the ball in practice'. Also, if I were a batsman in the team I would be saying exactly the same thing to the bowlers i.e 'Why are you bowling back of a length pies when there is swing and seam available?'

I don't think it effected much as the fact remains we would have lost as most of the batsman aren't well enough equipped to deal with the moving ball and the wrong fast bowlers were selected. But I think this is yet another reason why Sammy should no longer be captain, as if we needed anymore. Let him stick to Limited Overs where he is extremely effective, especially with the bat.

.
This is rubbish though.

"...After the batsmen saw how badly the bowlers performed when New Zealand batted, it was a complete let down and it resulted in the gutless batting performance in the second innings"
Blaming the bowlers for the batting performance is ****ty. Yeah, it's fair enough to say that they didn't bowl full enough, but the ones responsible for batting are the batsmen.

The talked about method to hit someone with a beamer is to bowl it from 22 yards. So I would suspect that Sammy probably over stepped as well.

Anyway I am amazed they a) did as well as they did in the 3rd test they could have lost by more with that ill feeling in the camp b) I am also amazed they rallied to win an ODI - Dwayne Bravo must be quite a leader.

If Sammy truly did that then you don't want him playing in any format.

Regarding Hendrix's point - it sounds like young Bravo is inexperienced and when they said please tell how you really feel he took the bait, Nonetheless Hendrix has a point.

I've heard this from enough people who are usually in the know now to think that it is at least partially true. Sammy clearly pelted the ball at Bravo and hit him, causing him to miss the 3rd Test.

The variations in the story are all concerned with the events leading up to what Sammy did. The owner of caribbeancricket.com, our biggest website, has posted this:

"Lil Bravo was in the nets, only playing spinners. Sammy asked him why he's not batting against the pacers. Bravo was a bit petulant and complained that the pacers not bowling anything and especially were not helping him to practice against swing bowling.

Sammy offered to bowl to him and Bravo was dismissive, saying Sammy was not much of a quality fast bowler either. Words were exchanged. It starts to get heated.

Bravo gets back in the nets and Sammy takes the ball. Bravo throws words again that Sammy is not much of a bowler. Sammy runs in and Bravo backs away. Sammy pelts the ball at Bravo, hits him in the arm. It wasn't a beamer but it was actually pelted deliberately at him."

He almost always has the scoop on these things and has a number of sources close to the team. I guess these are the sorts of things that happen when the team is down. If true, Darren Bravo should be reprimanded as although I have some sympathy with his position, it is unnecessarily arrogant. As for Sammy, well it is awful behaviour and should have resulted in him being sent home. He will be removed as captain anyway, but this should certainly be held against him in a big way.

Haha, imagine that. You tell Darren Sammy that you're only facing spin in the nets because the seamers bowling at the time aren't good enough to supply meaningful practice, only for him to offer to fix the problem by bowling in your net. It would be so awkward...
