Even until the inevitable cluster of wickets and non-contribution from our lower order. Need 350 as a bare minimum before I begin to entertain the prospect of our getting anything from this game.Who's ahead at this stage? about even?

Dropping Compo was where our selectors started losing the plot IMO. That was the first of some nonsensical decisions.tbf, if you bring in a 33 year old to open the batting, he really needs to be making big scores to justify is selection, in hindsight Compton shouldn't have been dropped IMO, but we didn't know Root wasn't ready to become a test opener, but with Carbs in now and being the only batsman performing decently and consistently I feel you have to stick with him
