India had 135 overs....That's like saying if the target is a 100, the bowling use are favorites because they only need 10 balls to win. Ridiculous.
SA were in a far, far better position to ein at that stage than one. I don't know how people can have an other opinion
There was no wicketkeeper? If Philander had nicked it he'd probably have gotten four runs because every fielder was on the boundary.
Don't be ridiculous. The tail had already blocked out a ton if overs before that last over. It's not like when India fell in a heap after Tendulkar fell in Chennai 99 vs PakistanWhat 57 runs? SA had just an over to block out to secure a draw and win the series IIRC.
There is but it would have went through his legs. There was no wicketkeeper?
Steyn is a tailender, he only can slog.Again, no one is saying they should have slogged.
They should have batted normally. Normal batting means you look to score singles when they are on offer at a minimum. You don't plan for the possibility of a possibility.
I wouln't mind them going for the win and losing and then being called chockers because they should have been very good to go that far. No other team was that close. The fact is that a SA loss at that stage (ie) losing 3 wickets in no time was the LEAST LIKELY outcome. It was the worst possible case scenario for SA and they chickened out because thy thought they would somehow lollapse from there and be branded chokers again.
Perhaps it was, but nobody wanted to find out. India were favourites to win and SA wouldn't be very disappointed although they missed out on history. They have a lot of momentum going to Durban, and India has tired bowlers and very discouraged batsmen after their good work was destroyed by bowlers. The fact is that a SA loss at that stage (ie) losing 3 wickets in no time was the LEAST LIKELY outcome. Absolutely. Me too.I wouln't mind them going for the win and losing and then being called chockers because they should have been very good to go that far. No other team was that close.
Lets be honest, it's very disappointing that they didn't get the win. They would have made history, and that win would have cemented their legacy and they would have earned the right to be in the same category as West Indies of old and the great Australian teams. Am I disappointed? Yes. But I'm not going to blame them for blocking. I would have been destroyed had they lost from that position, and they would have probably lost the series as well. This is still the Greatest Draw of all time, even better than Adelaide. So this match will be remember for the right reasons.I wouln't mind them going for the win and losing and then being called chockers because they should have been very good to go that far. I hope we bat first. The Indian bowlers will be out of it.Perhaps it was, but nobody wanted to find out. Ya because those that batted amazingly well were back in the pavillion.Absolutely. Me too.
They batted amazingly well and with a ridiculous amount of confidence, courage and belief. All three of those things disappeared in th last three overs
Haha, what?they are not given much credit because they took an adventurous way out.
Why waste another 132 overs if you can do that in 3 overs.Who's denying that we didn't **** up?
We screwed up over 135 overs though, you managed it in 3
It is just a sport. Don't be angry. What a ****ing gutless ***** effort at the end by South Africa.
As much as it seems silly saying that about a team who batted 1.5 days to save a test, it was absolutely disgraceful to get within 16 runs and not bother. I was so glad to see the thousands of people who had flocked to the ground boo them off, because it is really not a good way to go about playing cricket. Suuurely they could have scored (minimum) 2 runs per over for the 2nd and 3rd last then try to score 12 off the final over with hardly any risk of losing (or at least a risk well worth taking to win). But nope, after batting so well to get that far it's just too hard. I hope India defeat them in the remaining tests (this is coming from somebody who sat up to 3am to see India lose), and they also lose the #1 ranking. ****s...
EDIT: Chokers deserve more respect than pussies.
