***Official*** West Indies in New Zealand 2013/14

Flem274*

123/5
WAC. They only used one of Taylor's beautiful sixes in the highlights.

Reckon this knock ranks 2nd or 3rd in his 11. The Sri Lanka test will always be his greatest moment, and the 154* was awesome. His huge stand with Jess also up there.

He was pretty poor in his big stand with Jess IMO. Definitely not one of his better tons.

That 154* at Manchester was the best for mine. The best I've ever seen him play.

I would like for McCullum to be forced to open, but there's also Latham who is now knocking down the door with a sledgehammer for that opener's slot. I suppose his selection could be reasonably delayed.

I honestly didn't think it would get to this point so quickly, but unless McCullum scores big in the second innings his position is becoming untenable.
Baz is safe since he got a ton in this series.

TAAYYYLORRRRRRR

have yur way with me please
Haha

Yep, a 30-40 run lead for the Windies might as well be 100-120.

The only chance for NZ would be skittling the Windies for 150 odd.
Good call

Once or twice out of the footmarks he did but the majority of it was pretty innocuous imo. Not worthy of a real turning pitch anyway.
Kane said it was a turning pitch.

My own thoughts based only on the highlights package as I was out all day.

Ross is incredible.
Tim and Trent are incredible.

I get the feeling though that Tim and Trent bowl with their hearts. When the batsman turn up and give them a total or put them in the game - then they put n a mammoth effort. If we got shot out for some piss poor effort and they have to bowl twice in the same day then they get a bit pissed off and don't go as well and understandably so.

Also I was amused to read in your comments that we bitched about the ball being out of shape AGAIN just so we could get a better one. We lead the world in doing that.

It must have been out of shape otherwise the umpires would have just told us to get on with it.

Happened when the West Indies bowled as well.

I think it's a deliberately produced bad batch to give the TV commentators something to rattle and drone on about for a couple of hours.

looks like NZ should take the series now but looking at the averages there are some glaring holes in the team, both openers averaging in the twenties and wagner as third seamer 45 and sodhi even higher. mccullum has saved his neck with the century for now. this team will get exposed against better opposition, so ryder and vettori if fit must play against india, latham must be in with a shout and if milne can perform in the one dayers against the windies also included.

Right, I've had a good nights sleep to try and give me some perspective and slightly less anger. Hence, these are my musings:

- Gibson must go. My point about his complete lack of man management still stands, he has been an abject failure for 75% of his time in charge.

- Sammy must step down as captain. I like the guy as much as the rest of you but we all know he is not good enough to have a definite place in the side. He is a useful man to have in the squad if you need to strengthen the batting and have favourable bowling conditions but otherwise he shouldn't be in the starting lineup.

- I do feel for the guys a little bit in that they are in the middle of a pretty horrendous injury crisis. For this test we are missing Gayle, Bravo, Roach and Rampaul. The New Zealand equivalent would mean they would be missing a better version of Fulton or Rutherford, Wiliamson and both opening bowlers. I'd wager that New Zealand would struggle pretty horrendously away from home in such a situation as well.

- The above injury situation has cruelly exposed our lack of depth. Our reserve batsmen just are not good enough right now and will continue to be exposed like this. Deonarine has looked out of his depth at the crease, just far too loose. Having said that, the current bowling attack has been forced on us by the worst selectors I've ever had to endure. We could still field an okish attack even without Roach and Rampaul, but the selectors preferred to force us to watch Best and Gabriel.

If Samuels doesn't look a hell of a lot better in the ODI series he must go too. He looks awful at the crease and shows a complete lack of effort in the field.

Like Beamer..i couldn't stomach commenting last night, now the dust has cleared and the result is pretty much certain i figured i'd give me ten cents.

1. the loss of Toby Radford as batting coach has been a disaster..he left before the india series and we've seen the effect of it

2. Deonarine, Best and Sammy should never wear the shirt again

3. Powell had better get back to the domestic scene and prove himself again..because he's been far too poor to be first choice over these last two series

4. The SELECTORS are as much to blame for this as the coach...we all tore our hair out after they contrived to pick the same clowns who lost in India..they should be SACKED

5. I agree about Gibson..he needs to get out now too..he's as much to blame for the attack we've put out there as the selectors are....he also played a role in holding back Narine.

I agree about what Beamer said about missing players...in total...Gayle, Bravo, Roach, Rampaul and also Shilly for other reasons are out..that's half a side there.

Now lets talk about the future...

Fudadin will certainly be getting another look imo!!..gritty little bugger who bats with calm and responsibility!!!..unlike that idiot Samuels.

In the opening slot i hope Barath comes back strong..otherwise it will be Chris opening with Kraigg i guess.

Carter and Leon Johnson will also be right in contention for a middle order slot too.

In the bowling Holder is a cert when Sammy is gone and Cummins will also be watched closely.

The shambles that occured right from the begining has come back to slap us right in the face...from the lack of warm ups to the shilly situation and even Kraiggs passport mix up!!!..we're a ship that's been on dodgy waters for months now...and now we're sinking without a trace.

In closing let me say well done to NZ for their victory..it's been well earned. But one thing is for sure!!..you'll be facing a wounded lion when you come to the Caribbean in June...good luck.
