***Official*** West Indies in New Zealand 2013/14

Athlai

Not Terrible
Our openers have a perfect chance to silence the critics tomorrow, with a small total to chase and no time pressure whatsoever.
If they both score runs, they stay. If only one scores runs the other goes.

Thats what we'll do I reckon.

If neither score we'll see a coin toss.

Bloody hell, West Indies. I watched the collapse from 6 down to all out at the club rooms, and yeah, some decent bowling to tail enders. Then I saw the top order dismissals... Well, injudicious shot selection the order of the day it seems. Not the way to win a test. Still in with a chance, but another 100 and they would have been favourites.
For the sake of our future, we must not win this test. I really mean that too. This cannot continue. New Zealand have been so much better than us in 4 out of the 6 innings we've batted and thus they deserve to win comprehensively. They have seamers who actually move the ball. We have chosen to select nobody with that skill-set, therefore we deserve everything we get.

Windies aren't out of this, but a win here would be papering over the cracks, just as their abject surrender at times has papered over ours (Sodhi, Wagner going missing at times, Rutherford and McCullum being irresponsible).

Anyway, as a well known armchair expert here is my plan for Narine tomorrow - come down the pitch (he never changes where it pitches or flights it) and turn it into a full toss and belt him out of the attack. Sammy can't afford to concede runs and while coming down the pitch is a poor long term plan, we don't need to bat out the day we just need 120 runs. 18 balls of smoking him in an effort to make him drop short or make Sammy take out catchers to save runs will be a Godsend. Yes if NZ lose wickets to it they will look bad, but we can't just let him bowl and Sammy will plan for us to attack the bowler at the other end. If Narine is allowed to bowl at us then we will lose because he will be able to bowl to a plan with no fear and the bowler at the other end will be given every protection Sammy can provide.

About to watch it all over again on the highlights. Will be glorious, and I might need to pretend the game ended today tomorrow.
